I think a big reason RobTop wants to compete is because of MegaHack now being paid. It would make sense that RobTop would want his game to be more-enjoyable without having to pay more than the actual game itself costs, especially to some random guy.
@@andremckenna2007there is also a megahack knock off in geode. But this still makes sense because geode is not available on iOS and most mods are only usable on pc like multiplayer (globed)
quick correction. megahack and geode are unrelated and not required for each other. geode is a mod loader (like how minecraft has forge or fabric) and extensions are considered outdated and will not be made anymore. aside of that good video.
quick correction. Megahack posseses 2 editions. Normal which injects directly onto geometry dash and Geode which just adds onto geode and allows you to add mods alongside megahack
i think the modding scene is going to shift towards a focus on original ideas which robtop is unlikely to add or hasn't thought of yet, kinda like what we've seen with the Globed mod recently. It is definitely a good thing that the need for mods for QoL features is declining, but it would be cool to see RobTop maybe consider hiring / commisioning people like Absollute to get the code and ideas for these things, since mods like megahack act as a source of income to their creators.

And with the introduction of Geode, you can easily use most of the hacks given in Mega Hack completely for free using mods like Prism Menu or GD Mega Overlay. I think Mega Hack's integration into Geode was a bad decision on Absolute's part, because it's opening people up to those mods that could easily replace the PAID Mega Hack for FREE with a couple mods. It'll die out eventually unless Absolute decides to make it free.
As a fun fact: Robtop already has a great box of ideas without mods, as there's a server called Collar where many fanmade ideas are submitted and discussed.
to me, noclip is mostly to just recover saves when i happen to lose progress after beating something hard but honestly... i could see stuff like noclip being a default feature that you buy just like practice music hack, but probably way more expensive and obviously - no progress when you enable it
Yeah, you could check noclip and it would not give any progress in practice or normal. Also would have “Noclip” in the top left corner like start position.
you have to be careful when hacking levels to recover progress now. The game has access to some informations about your completion attempt that may flag you as a hacker and ban you from the leaderboards.
I feel like RobTop could totally add in noclip-accuracy as long as it's just for Practice and doesn't add it to Normal Mode. As long as it doesn't affect Normal Mode/completions, then I don't really think it'd negatively impact the game.

I like that robtop added these into the actual game. It gives mobile players access to some useful megahack features, which as you can guess, megahack is unattainable on mobile
The only 2 things I really really wanted. That I probably wodn’t play the game with out were practice music hack and fps bypass. Which were in v5 so I didn’t even pay for V6/7. Now they are in vanilla (with physics bypass being irrelevant now) so MegaHack is completely replaced for me.
Yeah, I grind hours and hours to get an achievement for an icon I like and someone else obtains it with the click of a button, totally fair. I have megahack myself but I've never used icon hack. Renders the grinding experience less rewarding.
I think features like speedhack and noclip should be toggleable on the menu (Maybe bought from scratch, since he likes to break the rules), it would not contribute to normal or practice percentages and will say “noclip” or “speedhack” in the top left corner indicating which is enabled (or both), this would work like start positions with say whether they are enabled in the top left corner.
I think icon hack is ¨ethical¨ because I think itś fine to personalize your icons the way you want without spending thousands of hours on almost impossible achievements. There is enough reward in getting the cheats legit, that I don´t think it matters. Icons are not the point of the game, and i think that´s pretty obvious.
I still use MegaHack because of these reasons: 1. When combined with Geode, it's absolutely awesome. 2. The bot. I tried XDbot on Geode, but it just isn't what I'm used to. I'm not using the bot unethically, I just bot for fun and make macros like a person having a collection of model ships (for example). 3. I paid for it back in June 2022, so if I wouldn't use it, it'd be a waste of money. 4. Some of RobTop's QoL changes in 2.2 are useless in my case, such as hitboxes in Practice, Start Position disabling and Timewarps as playtesting.
3:44 you completely miss one point here. Verify hack, or hacking level completions lost through a data loss. These are arguably valid reasons to use these hacks but it comes down to a system of trust. There's really no way rob could implement these features into the game without heavy moderator intervention and that makes everything harder for both mods and players. Verify hack is more understandable, for updating hard levels and getting another verifier without giving them your login info. Megahack is kinda how verify hack HAS to be implemented. There's no way to make it work well at all as a vanilla feature because people will abuse it.
4:02 I honestly think that Robtop should seriously add an "unlock all" button A lot of us just want to play to have fun and create levels, we have been playing the game for more than half a decade without updates after all I dont want to grind just to get a specific icon just cuz the game really expects me to obtain +2000 moons, which are at best 200 levels
I still think that Absolute and Rob should be working TOGETHER and not competing each other. Having someone as skilled as Absolute would give to GD a much better feeling in term of life quality. And Rob could be focusing onto next updates and core features, not wasting time on trying to be as good as Megahack. This is sad, we are losing time for everyone.
my theories regarding the situation: (1) RobTop is actually doing this due to MegaHack now being a paid software for GD, RobTop wants all millions of players enjoy GeometryDash without paying more money for megahack (2) RobTop ran out of ideas for 2.2+ versions and now copies what MegaHack is offering (3) RobTop and Absolute had an argument lol
Btw there's a free version of megahack developed by maxnu called gd Mega overlay. It's also aiming to be better than megahack. In 2.1 it had hundreds of more hacks that mega hack. Its on geode
The 2.1 version was my go-to for geometry dash, basically geometry dash without GDMO felt unusable, for 2.2 yes I still need some hacks and mods but GDMO has fallen off with an update crashing geometry dash for me
honestly i just wish the practice and menu music thing wasnt 2000 diamonds and 40000 orbs, and it was something that you just got from beating levels maybe for practice music you'd get it for clearing every non demon robtop level, and menu music for clearing every demon robtop level? it'd allow for a bit more incentive while making it less grindy i think that if they changed that (while also refunding players) and probably added smart startpos and startpos switcher than at least for me gd megahack will become mostly obsolete
3:10 a lot of people thing that extensions is more than just any old dll loader but no, they do the exact same thing absolute does nothing for extensions its just a fancy name for dll injector
I personally wish that levels that aren’t verified shouldn’t be rated, and should have a label that says that they weren’t verified. This would allow new levels to be made that couldn’t have been verified, and more creativity to exist, also making every level copyable made me pretty frustrated, just why. Also as a person who used MHV5’s editor hacks to create some cursed levels in 2.1, 2.2 has been very depressing
Megahack was featured in gd10. if it was important enough to be featured in the 10 year anniversary i dont think rob hates it. I think hes just adding qol features that SHOULD be in the game
Some players believe that even though it's cosmetic it ruins the fun for people who grind for icons like not sure I'm correct but if one player grinds for an icon to see someone use a hack to get it, it just ruins the fun. I personally think icon hack is fine it's cosmetic it doesn't effect anyone.
I'm gonna be using mega hack because I already own it. If I didn't own it already, I would wish for some of the features but I wouldn't feel like I need to spend money
I bought megahack, not for noclipping extreme demons but to showcase my levels as im a level creator and sonetimes they are hard, and i also love startpos switcher
