I love that Robyn brings syd barrels tunes back to life. Much respect. Saw him about 7 years ago at winnipeg folk fest. I was blown away that he was playing there as I randomly found him through my love for syd Baretts music . We share that in common. He played an amazing rendition of Dylans Magies Farm with a Canadian group named the Sadies. It was heavy and psychedelic. Robyn Hitchcock is a legend and I wish he was more known by the public. But he is the kind of person that one needs to have unique/good taste to like. Bravo Robyn!
Excellent account of the mastery of Syd. My only suggestion: in Dominoes, you should change the way you sing. “The day goes by”. This is the key to the whole song. The way Syd sang it was in a dreamy and resigned tone. almost as though he is on the verge of slipping into unconsciousness. That’s my only advice. Also, I would not refer to the drug thing. Syd was complicated and too many peo0le say he was a druggie or crazy or both. Maybe he was something else entirely that we don’t understand.
@@Oh_I_Will sorry for the constructive feedback. I thought the performance was near perfect. I have heard Robyn say he studied Syd and wanted to get it right. I thought this was an area that could be tweaked. Troll?
@@Oh_I_Will Robyn said there was a point in his life where all he did was study Syd’s songs. How Syd did them etc, so that he could replicate them as good as possible. Robyn did a fantastic job. I made one small comment to try to help. I don’t know why it is such an issue.
