The short claim timer on most vehicles and some small ships (85x) is truly something I appreciate a loooooooooooot in a game so keen of wasting my time running errands !
Great video. Thanks! I have not mined using a ROC since it first came out. It was terrible with the ROC moving all over the place when trying to mine in the beginning. It looks to be much improved and I look forward to mining with the ROC again soon. Subbed!
I have not tried it with that ship yet, but it seems it is too big, compared to the Nomad, to easily find a landing spot where your ramp touches the ground. The only down side the Nomad has with the ROC is that you can't access the ROC storage when it is all the way up the ramp. Your style is very pleasant and this sort of video format really is well done for kind of communicating the feel of doing a whole run.
Thanks for the relaxing video! I also prefer to stay in first person where I can, so personally I find it easier to line up my vehicle to drive into the ship in a straight line rather than reverse in. That way it's easy enough to drive it backwards back out in a straight line if you didn't touch the steering on the way in. It usually means I can stay in first person when driving. I've got a little setup with a wheel and pedals as well as HOTAS and IR head tracker. Great fun 🙂
There is something called a heat haze that results when ground temperatures get really hot. The heat causes visible changes in atmosphere above the ground causing distortions and apparent haze, resulting in vision to be more indistinct over distance.
I remember when ROC mining was much more prone to pirate attack, thanks to the radar "ping" being visible in a huge radius. Those were good times. Everyone should give ROC mining a try. It can be very enjoyable.
@@Farrister Oh absolutely! I just learned to keep one eye on the charging gauge, one eye on the radar for incoming ships, and one eye on global chat for announcements.
Will be interesting to see what CIG does when 3.24 drops and we loose internal ship storage. No more transferring from Roc to ship and will we need to transfer each gem 1 by 1 into a cargo elevator…. Don’t think they have considered the effect on this loop which I still do now and then because it’s fun.
It does matter, next time, please request permission to 'land' at the the platinum Bay Pad, park it/store it. Show consideration for other Pilots coming to that outpost!! Too many abandoned ships and vehicles scattered around local LZ's Farrister!!
Great vid as usual. May not be the most profitable per hour, but ROC mining is a solid gameplay loop, especially for new players. Easy to get started doing if you only have a starter ship. You can do a couple of box missions (or really any starter missions) to get the credits to buy the Pembroke Armor, and rent a ROC and a Cutty Black to carry it.
Very nice,haven’t Roc mined since it came out, did not know you could transfer the load to your ship this opens up group outings if everyone got on say a H2,is there any issues with combining everyone’s load and then selling it at one time and then dividing the profit?I know there were issues with cargo and ships that were borrowed from other players and the loads not being recognized theirs or stolen.great video, thank you, Also places I frequently visit like cargo runs,I spawn a Ursa medical to that location park it right next to the commodity trader and leave its rear ramp door down so everyone can use to top off their health and rehydrate as well as heal.Same with my Pieces C8R,take care everyone and hope to see you in the Verse.
Hi Farrister, thanks again for a nice video. One question for you: I borrowed a ROC the other day and wanted to sell the gems on Everus Harbour. I could only sell three gems at a time! I tried (unsuccessfully) for several days. Why does it work for you to sell everything at once?
You don't go into scanning mode when searching for gems? After you get a signal you increase the PIERC and if you can get a pin to populate and if it's only a single pin, more than likely you have a gem deposit.
Many smaller rocks isn't latency related. It's more workload for the CPU/GPU. If you experience lag or latency that might happen as a cause of the increased workload. But to be honest, a couple of rocks shouldn't matter all that much. All the extra's could load up the work for the server... and a slow responding server is lag/latency.
You know you can activate & then deactivate the army to lower it? Also the ignition point of wood (Ash) is 350C. Thats the lowest of common trees. I loved my C1 BUT......... Undocking is very bouncy
Every time I start roc mining, the laser power lags to the point where I can’t see if I’m over shooting the power, then the rock explodes destroying my roc and parts of my nomad, just wondering if it’s just me
