However it isn't essential to for the snare to mimic the hi hat throughout the song or even to play 16th notes on the hats, 8th notes sound just as good.
Not really necessary to apply ghost note beats until you're comfortable with the groove. Oterwise a drummer will overwork it and bugger it up. Build the skillset. Play on.
FINALLY, someone got the bass drum part right! The intro, the double-handed pulse between hi-hat and snare, and all the breaks were done correctly, as so many people tend to do them wrong. But most people don't realize how much is going with the kick drum as well, and that's what really captures the original and "authentic" feel. Excellent work!
This song is all about feel. It's definitely the magic of this song and Bonham. I love big drums tuned wide open. You can hear the two heads in the kick working with each other. You can also hear the whole kit in reverberation with each other. In other words. The instrument as a whole

And that's the way to man up on the bass drum by filling up the 8ths between the snare downbeat 2 and 4 Song is a right of passage to build up the groove power endurance of bass drum control and achieving the trade mark sound of the man himself

now i have to learn it. have played for yrs but never played exact always put my spin on it. so now playing it correctly and putting my accents in it will be awesome. you can't teach a band the beg bc most cant count.
Best cover I've seen of this song anywhere. You really nailed the ghost notes on the snare drum where most drummers will just play the quarter notes on the downbeat. Very smooth and powerful at the same time. Great job!

I used to count this intro (starting on the 1) as 4 bars of 4/4 and then 3 extra 16th notes or one bar of 3/16. It wasn't until many years later I thought that probably wasn't right. Yeah, it starts on the "A" (1-e-and-a) of 1 lol

Id really like to one of these days setup a 14x10 rack tom with a 12x9 and have perfect interval setup for my set. Shame not too many drum companies make 14's much anymore
