First of all, great vid. You've really outfitted that MAX well. I might make a couple additional comments, specifically with regard to rock crawling a side by side. The bead locks are great, but the primary benefit to running bead locks when rock crawling is the ability to air the tires down increasing the contact patch for better traction. I air down to the point there's some noticeable squish in the sidewall at the bottom of the tire. Another point I'd make is that it's a far better option to completely disconnect both sway bars for extra traction and articulation for crawling. Disconnecting the sway bars is far more effective in increasing "flex" than any aftermarket spring or valving upgrade (or sway bar shock). There are inexpensive sway bar quick disconnects available for the X3 now. The third thing I would mention is that you have the ZRP radius arms. Super cool and important Mod! Those would be the first thing I would have mentioned because of their incredible strength. Those arms are absolutely Necessary for crawling. The stock radius arms bend if they even get close to a rock. The ZRP's are 7075 T6 aircraft grade aluminum and are the strongest on the market Only ZRP and one other brand make these super strong arms using 7075. The Assault industries arms are kiddie toys by comparison. Again, Great Video. I like what you've done to your car in terms of safety and coms for sure. I'd really like to see more people crawling their SxS's. They won't do what a jeep or a purpose built crawler will do, but if we keep pushing the industry forward I bet we can get close!!!! Rock on... lol....
Looks like you addressed all the single shear brackets on your rig. Never understood the engineering flaw but needless to say your rig looks bulletproof. Great video, sand hollow is a few hours south of me. Cannot wait for my first trip
Nice rig! We started rock crawling about 4 months ago with our x3 Max. Slowly transforming it into something like yours. I wanted to throw 35” tires on mine but was swayed into not getting them from many. We ended up getting 32” with 5+2 offset. I’m assuming that your 64” wide....What is the offset on your System 3 wheels to clear the rear arm and do your front wheels not touch the body/fenders when cranking the steering wheel full turn left/right?
@@95toycrawler Like I said, if we just did rock crawling, I would do that. But I don’t want to have portals on there during a 600 mile adventure ride in the desert or bombing through the dunes. Does not make sense.
