Just a normal day at the crusher, the feeder on the cone decided to stop and the whole system was shut down briefly. Quick action by the crusher operator saved the day.
Thanks for watching.

Bring on more crusher videos, love 'em. I owned a similar operation before I retired.

Maybe I am weird, but I would really really love it if you could post a longer vid of one of those output piles growing from a baby pile of stones to a big giant grown up pile of stones. Just that, no drone needed, just stick a camera on a tripod and you will make me real happy. Please Joe, you are the hero I need, I think this would be a really satisfying video, and the first of its kind on YT.

I'll see what I can do, the stockpiles under the stacker belts get moved by the loaders, so not sure how it will go.

@@JoeRockYT Thanks, it would be great, even if they are getting moved and not very big. Sidenote, I really love your videos, though I come close to having a panic attack when you get right up to the crusher jaws under that guard plate. Though I do hope that if you ever do crash, the memory card survives and we can see what a drone experiences going through a crusher 😁

The original plant was on 3 trailers if I remember right. The jaw and feeder on one, the cone and shaker on one and the generator on one and a bunch of belts. The old guy was out one day and I was elected to start everything. The genset was a pony start Cat, a D-8 or 9 (6-cylinder) 3-phase. Had 2 boxes on the trailer wall that were starters for the jaw and cone. Handle and black ball on the handle end and sticking out the side like a slot machine. Start the genset and warm it up then pull a handle till the load evened off on the genset and then push the lever IN and hook it to the wall by a wire. Same with the other one. I usually started with the jaw. The plate feeder had it's own starter on 110 to the contactor and the feeder operator held the switch. The belts were push button and had a row of starters for them. This setup stayed like this till the 3-phase line got pulled in and everything set up to run off of it. And no, if anything bad had happened to the jaw or cone motors the starters would NEVER kick off. So don't anybody cuss an E-stop. I thought a lot about those 2 boxes on the wall when feeding. The generator trailer was right in front of me. And by the Grace Of God we ALL lived to tell about it.

You need to get crusher operator a cabin with cameras and where possible remote stop start buttons! And if you have a belt weigher you could have the display controller in the cabin with an hourly log sheet to monitor tph and comments on stoppages! Does not cost alot for plugged wiring for ease of connecting when moving from job to job! We had these systems in place in the 90's in uk! Also you could rig a camera to record save you doing them and with technology you can remote view your operation without you being there!

The roller on the feeder of the cone started seizing up, causing the feed to stop, what will happen is the feed from the screen coming in will overflow the hopper on the cone if left unattended.

@@JoeRockYT Ah I see!! Thank you! Those Dam rollers stopping on one side can pull the belt right off on my old crusher. Always on the lookout for movement. I thought was a jam. I don't know a ton about cone crushers. Love learning!

If all the equipment is mobilized, probably a few hours time frame, not counting building your loader ramp, probably faster if your loading with an excavator and you don't need a ramp.

I'm looking forward to a new video, how crushers work, what do you do with an excavator, a bulldozer, how do you sift material? and what do you do with an oversized stone, crush it or bury it in a quarry? How do you deliver material to the site from a quarry? if you can make a video on these topics. I'm waiting for the soonest video, otherwise I'm worried about the production

Running a crusher sure is different from what i do for work. Does the crushed rock and sand go to a Ready Mix Batch Plant? I manage and operate a Ready Mix Plant is Central Utah. I just started to post videos of me running my loader. Soon ill be posting videos talking about how the plant runs and videos of mixers delivering and pouring concrete. Thanks for the videos! Hoping one day to go get videos of my companys pit running
@JoeRockYT

Some goes to the ready mix plant, some goes directly to company contract projects, some goes to the general public, it just depends.

Hey joe I have a question I’m about to try to get a job at the Rock near me and when they ask what position am I applying for I want to do what u do but I don’t know what you would call it
@JoeRockYT
@JoeRockYT 3 года назад
Probably an entry level position would be considered a general laborer. The position of the guy seen in this video is considered a crusher operator, which is above a laborer.

Hard to say, if you have zero operating experience, its doubtful you will start off as an operator. You will need to put in some time as a laborer before moving up more than likely.
