Rock crystal (quartz) crystals gemstones minerals search in the Swiss Alps. For years, Kristian Egberts and Daniel Middel have been coming together in the Swiss Alps to go on a mineral search together. In this video you see a visit to Graubünden in 2023 where they paid a short visit to this site on the first day of the search. You can clearly see how a large block of quartz crystals is made small, with all the instructions on how best to do this. Eventually some quartz pieces come loose which turn out to be quite nice!

Makes you yearn for more cooperative geology / geochemistry I'm sure . Massive crystalline rock with no exploitable foliation or parting planes ( such as a soft altered wall zone ) makes for hard going . Even foliated rocks are not as much help when the pockets are perpendicular to the foliation and no soft alteration zone to work with . I wish you more cooperative pockets for the new year .

Totally true! This massive rock without any workable cracks or leads in it, gave a hard time working on it. Nevertheless it was worth the try and we did recover some nice specimen from this rock. Thanks for your wishes for next year ;)
