they do this rock/metal sound more in their japanese releases (endless night, no more, don't light my fire), for korea they have to water it down to stay afloat, their success has flourished since they incorporated other genres with rock (scream - edm, boca - moombahton, odd eye - edm ig?) that's the sad truth, in kpop they're more of the black sheep type, if they don't try to appease the general population (while keeping their distinct sound) they wouldn't have the resources to keep going and give us these amazing releases. this may be a factor, but on the other hand, they may just want to experiment things, and those last 3 comebacks were awesome even if they didn't go as hard
