@finn, since horror goes hand in hand with metal, will you consider horror movie tier list or horror character tier like you did with teen movie tier? Love your tiers, they're legendary 😃👍
Finn, dude, I enjoy your commentary, but you have to be deranged or an absolute troll to say Box Car Racer did the mid 90s Post-Hardcore sound better than Quicksand. I hope you're one of both.
I can't get enough of Finn...he has, without question, the worst taste in music of anyone I regularly watch, and I just can't get enough of it. He always gets me triggered and my blood pressure up, screaming "Oh fuck off! Maynard is awesome!" at my phone... sincerely love his content...
I wouldn't say he has the worst taste in music. I think he has pretty good taste, but you're not going to like everything. I think you guys need to relax a bit, have some fun.
I don't think Slipknot heard Stone Sour and thought "This guy's gonna make us famous", I think they thought "We need another singer, and we live in fucking Iowa. This guy will do."
"True story, A man walked up to me-- big guy, strong guy, tears streaming down his face--and said, 'mister President, sir, Finn's tier lists are the greatest tier lists in the history of the world'. Seriously. This is what people are telling me. Everywhere I go, people are saying this."
true story: my cousin, who died of cancer a weak ago, on his death bread said to me the following words with his mouth. "Finn's tear lists are A-Okay". no joke man, still brings a tear to my eyes.
One of the most underrated side projects is "Ibaraki" by Matt Heafy of Trivium. It is a mixture of black metal, melodic death metal and hard rock. It's surprisingly good and proves just how talented Matt really is.
The song they were playing in the video is too, I don't know how people were saying "THIS ISN'T MUSIC", what a bunch of assclowns with no taste in Finn's chat
YES! Each album has gotten better V was decent, Conditions huge step up, Money Shot AMAZING, ER is Perfection. This dude don't know what the F he's talking about. Doubt he actually knows any songs minus a single or 2
Murderdolls was cheesy fun and they never took themselves too seriously. I always enjoyed them. Never liked Stone Sour though, always thought they were bad radio/butt rock.
agree 💯💯💯. "i love that "Acid Inject" and "Come home" are back to back on that "Oni" album. Darko is waaaay underrated IMO. yes, the drums are programmed (and that's why they sound amazing) and they're pretty eclectic for a deathcore group. I'm a fan.
I made the mistake of trying to sip my coffee right when you said “they don’t give a FRICK” and now I have to clean my phone screen. Excellent as always!! More gaming tier lists!!
putting APC in S Tier was a good move in my opinion. Emotive album with the dude who did sound design for the SAW movie was a 10 simply for Counting Bodies Like Sheep. Really impressive track and Maynard, whilst being sampled, sounds so amazing on it.
I would actually love to see Nailbomb on the list (Max from Sepultura and Alex Newport from Fudge Tunnel)..people who who enjoy 90s sepultura might really like it
Fun picks. I liked Boxcar Racer, too, but they were not better than Quicksand. They were just easier to sell to teenagers. Some suggestions for Part 3: Temple of the Dog, Mad Season, Only Crime, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Kingdom of Sorrow, Damn Yankees, Pinhead Gunpowder, etc.
As entertaining as always 😅! Maybe include The Fake Names in a later edition?. Featuring Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Bad Religion), Michael Hampton (S.O.A., Embrace, One Last Wish), Dennis Lyxzén (Refused, International Noise Conspiracy, INVSN), and Johnny Temple (Girls Against Boys).
That first DRUGS record was pretty good. To give credit where it's due, it's also the bass player of Story of the Year (Adam), drummer of Matchbook Romance (Aaron) and guitarist of From First to Last (Matt). It was a pretty good lineup of musicians back then!
Seriously though, check out Legend of the Seagullmen. It's a side project with Danny Carey from Tool and Brent Hinds from Mastodon, among others. The title track is catchy as hell, with a silly surfabilly vibe. Brent Hinds had another decent fez-wearing, surfabilly side gig before Mastodon called Fiend Without a Face. Good stuff.
I really liked that one song by Fort Minor, "Where'd You Go", and I like that song by BOB feat. Hayley Williams. Oh, a really old side project was when Eric Clapton did Derek and the Dominos, and made "Layla" with Duane Allman playing slide guitar. I guess you could say that Cream was a side project in the first place, since The Yardbirds was the first band that Eric Clapton was in, I think. That means Led Zeppelin is a side project too lol
Fuck yeah tier list, reminds me of grandma's classic Vicks vapor rub and raisin cobbler Fun fact for you Finn, my friend worked security for big gigs and after parties for a while, so naturally he's a 6'3 muscle monster and was at an after party and didn't notice midget Maynard walking near him with a drink and accidentally body checked the little oompa loompa over a white couch
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA well hell, it RULES 🤘,. Thanks for all the badass free content man, I support you in any way I can, your stuff is better than platforms I pay for, quality stuff brother 🤘🤘🤘
Got the chance to see one of the few Killer be Killed shows in Sydney and they put on a hell of a show, I still laugh that they had an extra guitarist to play Greg’s parts since he kept putting his guitar down to jump around and dive into the crowd lol
Because I know how much Finn loves Neurosis, I'm throwing this one out there: Corrections House...is the collective compulsions of Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod), Scott Kelly (Neurosis), Bruce Lamont (Yakuza), Sanford Parker (Minsk) and their minister of propaganda, Seward Fairbury. Crossing My One Good Finger is a banger.
The love for nu metal won't stop... seen an article with the top 5 quintessential albums... your thoughts Korn - Korn Limp Bizkit - Significant Other Slipknot - Slipknot Defrones - White Pony Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
2:15 WHOA WHOA WHOA. I've been on board with a lot of your hot takes since the SYWH days, but I think I gotta draw the line at Quicksand disrespect. I love Boxcar Racer, but it's definitely not Quicksand or "better" imo
Boxcar racer is amazing. So sad they only ever did one album to be honest. Although the self titled blink album did take some good inspiration from Tom's boxcar sound.
If you do another one of these videos, here's a few side projects I've come across over the years: The Almost (Aaron from Underoath), Pinkly Smooth (Brian & Jimmy from Avenged), Bayonet(Buddy from Senses Fail), Speak the Truth... (Buddy and most of Finch), We Are Harlot (Danny from Asking Alexandria), William Control (Will from Aiden), Aaron West & the Roaring Twenties (Soupy from The Wonder Years) & The Postal Service. Some are good, some not so much, but they're all interesting in their own right.
Pierre bouvier from Simple plan did a side project called Reset and Roger lima from Less than jake made a side project called Rehasher. To me they're very underrated.
Them Crooked Vultures is pretty badass and same with Prophets of Rage. I grew up listening to Them Crooked Vultures and then Prophets of Rage came out I think when I was just getting out of high school
I’ve been jamming the hell out of an album from the 90s by a side project called Handsome. Some members of Helmet, Quicksand, and Cro Mags. Whole album jams 🤘🏽
Do Black Light Burns for Wes Borland (and I believe now he has a solo project). I got to see BDF live, and it was a crazy show, full of interpretive dance parts, and they were cool enough to hang out with the fans for hours after the show.
I’ve been in the military for a while now, and when you describe military wives I always crack up. Hahahaha I don’t know how you nailed these people so well but you did. Hahaha do you interact with them often?
I didnt know who Them Crooked Vultures was until this video. I remember regularly skipping them on Spotify. Not bad, but as you said, just didnt really grab me.
I want more Box Car Racer so badly. I'm excited for Tom returning to Blink and I enjoy Angels & Airwaves, but more Box Car at the same level of their only album would be amazing.
I liked Them Crooked Vultures. Listening to it now, it does sound like music used in commercials. At the time it didn't feel like that. In 2009 it seemed that commercials were using barely known indie artists. I also didn't like DRUGS (besides the single) in comparison to Chiodos.
That Big Dumb Face album (him and his brother screwing around) is a blast, but it's not quite fair to mention them and not Black Light Burns -- Wes' serious project.
Boxcar Racer and Transplants first LPs still hold up this day. I am sure in 1999 people didn't have "Tim Armstrong will collab with members of Blink-182" on their bingo cards.
One of my favorites is Black Curse.. it has members of primitive man , khemmis, spectral voice and blood incantation .. Endless Wound is a gem of an album 🤘🏼
If you do a part 3 do the Damned Things I beg you, they're the exception to the rule. It's main lineup is Keith Buckley of ETID, Scott Ian of Anthrax, and Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley of Fall Out Boy. It's actually incredible, they have 2 albums and one other standalone single, it's a VERY good discography to rip through in a single afternoon. you'll LOVE IT.
@@warhorus2909 Yeah, I should have mentioned him, but then wondered f I needed to mention Rob, and also Josh Newton from ETID, as that was thefirst album band lineup, then decided to only menton the members on both albums.
The first killer be killed album was the shit when I was in high school. When I heard about it I was expecting something gnarly and got my moms favorite new band
Hot dog rock lol 😂 never heard of that. I've only heard the banger Hot Dog by Limp Bizkit. BTW I loved Stone Sour and Murderdolls, used to tide me over in the periods when Slipknot were inactive. You should have covered Black Light Burns as far as Wes Borland's side projects, BDF were just embarrassing haha
Them crooked vultures honestly had 1 good song and some decent songs. I was actually lucky enough to get tickets at retail to their show at the wiltern in l.a. loudest show ever
I came here to see if he'd mention Hated...And Proud (little known Machinehead side project...i think its Machinehead, Fear Factory? one of those worker-sounding names...never really got into them, but thoroughly enjoyed the Hated...And Proud release. Cassette only, i believe, in 1994 or so...my memory has faded.
