It would’ve been badass if he went onstage after Wes stormed off and was like “I may not have stolen his house, but anyone wanna see me steal his band?”
I really want to know the context behind this. Also are post grunge bands doing ok? It seems like everyone storming off stage was huge in like 1999-2004
They were on the wrong promotion and have said many times - they had no idea how their management team accepted to be on a metal promotion when they aren't metal. For as much bs that nickleback gets - they have a huge following that goes to see them for them and do put on a great solid show even if the music isn't to everyones liking. They just don't belong on a metal billing.
In an interview after the fact, Chad talked about how Nickelback was on a bill with much heavier bands at that show, and that their tour manager or agent or whoever should've known they wouldn't be well-received.
I saw Mike Skinner from The Streets storm off stage in an Irish festival 2005, he started by slagging off all the people at the front audience because they were in a gated area, saying they were in the expensive vip area and not proper fans, the area at the front was for people who had bothered to queue really early to get near the stage and wasnt more expensive. He made it clear he couldn't be bothered to be in Ireland then said "Hello Scotland" sarcastically. People then started throwing plastic bottles and he stormed off.
I'm not fond of the Gallagher brothers, but I feel like in Liam's case storming off was entirely understandable. If he himself recognized the fact that he was not able to perform at his highest capacity, then stopping the show makes complete sense. I only hope that the fans either got a full refund of their ticket, or the concert was postponed until he healed.
He should have just cancelled the show to be honest. I had tickets to tool/mars volta and maynard ended up getting a throat issue and they cancelled and refunded. He was out for 4 stops of the tour. Understandable. Vocalist shouldn't try to push through especially on a tour.
"fan throws shoe" You think fans assault the artists they pay money to see? Half of these were acceptable walk-offs. I really need to hear about the story of Wes' house being stolen though
To be fair that shoe probably wasn't thrown at the band on purpose - was most likely just thrown and so happened to land on stage. I have been to a ton of concerts where full water bottles, glass bottles etc were thrown from crowd into crowd - it got stupid but does happen. Oddly enough it is why country bars had cages built around the band stand as well.
I cannot imagine paying to see a show and then showing my appreciation by throwing bottles or SHOES at the band. This was so entertaining, I think I'll try throwing the mike down and storming off mid-podcast next week.
I seen Layne Staley get pissed and cuss a guy out and flip him off for throwing a shoe when they were opening at Clash of the Titans in 1991. He didn't cry or pout or storm off or anything, he was just gonna kick the dudes azzwhole
You wanna start a band? Here are some "name" suggestions: **PUDDLE OF PISSED* **STOLEN HOUSE OF MUDD* **ABOUT A WES* Chain along your entry down below.
Someone wanna tell Aaron Lewis that amplification is a thing? Fucking hell, even MTV Unplugged shows were amplified with mics n shit, it doesn’t make your song more emotional/heartfelt if you choose not to be heard at your own show
It was supposed to be the entire point of the show, though. It sucks for everyone when people won't shut the hell up... no clue why you would pay money to make everyone around you listen to you telling someone about your ski trip while a band is playing 🤷♂️
The best part about the Chad Smith thing as soon as he runs off stage the guy playing the keyboard grabs a mic and says “well that’s almost as bad as Free Bird”
I think the reason Jason Hook threw his guitar was because the band was having issues with Ivan and his alcohol abuse. It was something that kept going on for years. As much of a fan I used to be for FFDP,I can totally understand why he left the band.
Chad was only messing with the crowd - he came back on laughing. I wish the camera had gone to the house thief so I could see if he was wearing a mask and a hard hat. 😁
I mean, in Billie’s defence they were the only rock band on that show so they only got cut just to give the pop stars more stage time so if I were him I’d also be pretty pissed off…
Tbf ,Nickelback was added as a last ditch effort ,in a mostly METAL bill. i dont blame people for getting mad honestly.of course nickelback shouldnt have been the ones to get all the rocks
I am not 100% sure,. but i think he never stopped the show. I remember sometimes stopping the song to storm to someone, but as soon as he finish, he started the song again
I saw Danny Brown about five years ago and he cut his set short because he got freaked out by someone crowd surfing. (Granted, this was at a pretty small club where crowd surfing almost never happens.) He was was just like "Y'all white people are crazy, I'm outta here" and dipped.
The Nickleback thing is kinda sad sure chad was egotistical but the rest of his band were pretty solid. Some of their songs are genuinely fun to play on guitar.
Punishing thousands of concertgoers because of a few rowdy jerks that could easily be kicked out (or, in Wes's case, because he's a brat) is wrong. Wikipedia: "Vocalist and guitarist Wes Scantlin has served as the only consistent member throughout the band's history." Makes sense - I wouldn't want to stay in a band where the singer kept ending concerts for stupid reasons. The Green Day storm off was the only one that made sense. They were being kicked off in one minute anyway, so fuck it.
The Chad Smith one was really the only one that was excusable. People have said that so much to Chad, and Will Ferrel I'm sure too. He's got to be sick of it by now. Phil from Machine Head was too to an extent. Getting something thrown at you can be upsetting of course. But yelling at the crowd to be quiet? Wes Scantlin, need I say more haha.
I honestly felt the Chad Smith one cause my name is Jesse and everyone has sang the Jessie show theme song to me since 3rd grade when it came out in 2011. Let me just say that I’ve cut people off mid song cause after hearing it for almost 15 years it is beyond annoying
@@andyconnrock Tell your friend to try being sung to throughout the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and part way through the aughts in the most disturbing and painful ways. Especially when they are trying to sing the French part. I couldn’t listen to Michelle for YEARS. The only reason I ever did again is because my father chose my name. But I do empathize…. At least nobody is “coming on” at me, near me, or in my general direction 😂😂😂😂 At this moment… she means everything btw
2:14 technical difficulties= stormed off stage because someone threw something again, I’d like to see the persons face that did this to know what they’ve just done😂
dude, even if you aren't a fan of Nickelback, you shouldn't laugh at their lead singer getting shit thrown at his fucking HEAD. have some common courtesy for fuck's sake
they came on and for a festival appearance and kept watching their set get cut down in minutes (you can see billy looking at a monitor which tells him how long hes got left) and when he realised they cut him down to only having a minute left basically told them to go fuck themselves. it was pretty cool, until they apologised for it.
I think so, I saw him do a drummer exhibition like this before and he was for sure doing ridiculous shit and joking around. He knows about the Will Ferrell thing too, he did a drum off with him on Conan like 10 years ago.
