Removal of my 1448 "Waterfall" Jukebox Selector Unit for cleaning. After watching Hobbyman's excellent video on the 1454, I presumed mine would be the same. I was wrong. Video is a bit long winded, but I hope it helps.
Two things I noticed when pulling the one from my 1454 apart was, one: The long bolts that go clear through the pinbank have very cheesy heads. Very easy to round out the heads, even with the proper screwdriver. It's best to loosen the nut on the other end and not mess with the heads of the bolts, as they will strip out. Two: Other pinbanks do not seem to be constructed so that the square washers complete a circuit. I don't know why that is, but it stopped me from trying to use graphite spray, which would tend to short out the electrical tracks. My belief is that having the uneven surface to bridge probably makes the 1448/1454 pinbanks less likely to want to stick.
Hi Geoff, this is exactly the video I needed. Apart from how to get the drum out. I’m in Melbourne and about to attempt this task on my Tempo 2. Is there any way we can chat before I begin? I’d love to ask a couple of questions. I’m brand new to this.
Hi Martijn. No more videos, sorry. I have had this machine for many years and it worked fine if the pins were worked manually. Since cleaning the pin bank, I have discovered the problem may be the accumulator or related. At least the pin bank is nice and clean now. Cheers Geoff.
