I just used this video to create a 32” rifle sling. It took 26 feet of cord for the middle section. (OD GREEN USED IN THIS VIDEO) It also took two separate lengths of 18 feet each for the outer strands (WOODLAND CAMO IN THIS VIDEO). Just hoping someone might find this information useful. 👍🏻
At what length did you bend your outside pieces to tie in the bottom swivel? Is this video with his measurements he measured out 84 inches. For his short ends to tie in. What was yours?
I think the guy that done the video just doubled the length he wanted it (40 inches) to get 80 then added 4 inches just to be safe. So 32 inches would be 68 inches (64 inches+4 to be safe.) I’m not absolutely positive so it may not be correct but that’s how I’m understanding it.
@@munsteroutdoors272 once I got to that step, I just measured from clasp to clasp and made sure it was the length I wanted for the sling. The real trick is having enough cord to tie with so that u don’t run out once u get to the bottom. I mitigated that risk by using a significantly longer amount of paracord than I needed to make the sling. Takes longer to pull through that way, and also creates a good amount of waste, but it was worth it to me to make sure that I had enough cord for the entire job. Hope that makes sense. 👍🏻
I used your instructions to make a strap for my AR. Worked great and looks great. I made mine with about an 8 inch adjustable canvas belt in the middle so I can adjust the size so I did paracord in two parts on the ends. Because I had to adjust the length I did a little math to help others based on your numbers this will get people pretty close: -For Center Color: 12.4 inches of paracord for every inch of sling -For Side Color: 7.75 inches of paracord for every inch of sling To calculate where to fold the side colors devide total side length by 3.7 and fold the short side to the middle (You want this short side to be just over twice your desired length.) Thanks for the great video instructions.
this is an old comment, but by my math you need 7.75 TIMES 2 for every inch of sling. here is my math... he says 42' of cord, which by your math means 40.64".... then he says 26' TIMES 2. 40.64x7.75= 315" divide by 12 equals 26' but as he said, you need 2x 26' lengths.
made one of these for my shotgun and I love it!. very comfortable and pretty simple to make. If you're going to attempt this make sure each knot gets snugged up as you go. I didnt realize how important this was and when i made my first sling it was pretty loose and not nearly as clean looking as the one i ended up making. Thanks for teaching us!
Thanks for the video. Made one for my daughters .22. Had to halve the measurements as I only needed one 24” long but turned out fantastic. Thanks again.
I've seen most of the paracord sling tutorials and your video is definitely the best one. Instructions are clear and most importantly the design is awesome!
Great instruction.... I don't know what some of the commentators are talking about. I found the video very clear and easy to follow. After watching I made a 32" sling for my M14 airsoft rifle and it turned out great! Using the instructions here and dividing through for my length sling, I came up with the following: Inside cord needed is 10.76" of cord per inch of sling. Outside cord needed is 7" of cord per inch of sling times 2. I'm going to do a 30" sling for my Well MB04 airsoft sniper rifle next and see how well that formula works out. If someone beats me to it, please do let everyone know what your experience was.
Thank you for this great instructional video, i used this design for my Marlin SBL 45-70, used black outer and silver inner, turned out great, starting another with my son for his 243 Savage
Great video, thanks so much. Been trying to make a decent sling for my shotgun and now by following your video, I have a great looking one. Cheers and thanks again for explaining everything so well 😁👍
Outstanding vid. Tied one last year and it came out amazing with woodland and black. Just got a new rifle now I’m I’m gonna tie one in copperhead and black. Can’t wait to see this pattern. Thanks bro.
Just made your sling with a difference I split it into two single slings about 5inc in then rejoined for the last 2inch.. Great video Just slow it down a bit for us total novices. ooh yeah you didnt tell us how much it would hurt our fingers 😢. Going to have a look at your other videos for inspection. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
first time attempting any paracord project. Very good video. May I add a suggestion, if you add a temporary simple knot to the one inch tail from the string that holds the other side loop it will prevent it from sliding from under the cow knot prematurely. if this tail slips it is all over. Thanks for the video.
I used your lengths to make my first shotgun sling for a buddy.. then just made my first single point in a duality weave.. thanks man.. they came out perfect.. the duality came out clean and I was able to weave in 4 colors and it came out amazing..
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I HAVE BEEN TYING AND UNTYING THE SAME DANG PROJECT OVER & OVER AND SCRATCHING MY @$$ TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS AND I KNEW IT WAS SIMPLE BUT I JUST COULDN'T GET IT!!! AWESOME!!!
Last night I tried my hand at this but I pulled the cores out of the outside strands and it’s made an interesting flat checkerboard like pattern. Great video thank you
Inside strand 42' / 12.8m Outside strand 26' / 7.9m x2 For people who need the measurements. Only complaint is how they weren't placed below the video. Otherwise great design and video.
I've just about finished my first attempt. The initial "Cowbwa" weave (😅) takes a little fathoming as I had to play that bit over and over and over but once it 'clicks' you get into the rhythm. I think mine looks pretty cool, I'm gonna donate it to my bro for his VSR-10 and make another one (or more) for me. Thanks for the vid, it was essential 👍🏼
the one inch tail can slip during weaving. Add a simple knot ti the tail to hold it in place until it's time to put it in a vice to tighten the slack. if it slips is all over. first time doing a paracord project. Thanks for the video.
An idea or two. You might want to try the Slatts rescue belt weave for a sling. That way you are not limited to the swivel width. You can widen or narrowing by adding or dropping loops. The tie offs are accomplished by running the tag end opposite of the weave and snugging tight. A second idea is to use what is called spool knitting. This gives you a hollow tube in which you can stash items such as a wire saw. Start and finish attachment to the swivel with either the Slatt's weave or the conquistador weave.
Good video until the end. Would have really helped if you had moved your work into the lighted area and made sure the camera was in focus. It was really difficult to tell what you were doing
I actually just made one for my 30-30. Looks and works great. Just a little stiff but it works.. I use a 2×4 thats about 3 in ahalf ft with 1 nail at both ends. Works pretty well.
Somehow my sling ended up at 36". Had to pull with the vise going the other way to expose more inner strand to tie more knots around. Finally got it out to 40". Hardest part was the forceps at the end. I already sinched it down tight as hell. Did mine in Coyote Brown & Copperhead.
Thank you for this video. It it excellent. I just don't understand how I ended up with 16 feet of cord left over. And my 84" pieces yielded a 35" sling. But for the 20 gauge shotgun it was actually perfect.
I did one for my Franchi ist amazing! But i did not have a "vice" so i have not been able to pull the loops :(. I finished it by passing the 4 others ropes back in the swivel than i made a cobra over my camo with the center one ober the sling. Did a great job. Thanks for your video
Thanks for the tutorial. Do you have anything on making a shell holder? I’m sure elastic would be needed, but I’d love to add one to the sling if at all possible.
i'm considering making a full utility belt using this style, but would prefer to use those big snap lock plastic buckles. maybe some cobra style belt loops/ lanyard with some clip attachment for pouches. these weapon slings are the only thing i have seen that come close to the size and style belt i need.
hi, I follwed you video step by step used the same colers came out awesome. Just wanted to let you know the lenths you gave iu were off. the center OD green had 5feet extra and woodland camo had 3 feet extra. great job keep them coming.
Did you get the colors from paracord planet? I looked the woodland camo up on their website and it looks different in the video compared to the website pictures. Did the website just take bad pictures?
Wow I’m impressed this sling is exactly what I want but reversed in the color scheme! The only difference is that I want it with push button QD swivels?
Recommend throwing in an adjustable strap. That'll take the guesswork out of trying (& failing every time) to figure out how much cordage to start with. Also, you don't need near as much cordage.
