Just don't make it all about Floor again, guys. This is Epica ;) I'm wondering how many songs from Epica actually NW fans know. I'm an old NW fan myself but as soon as I listened to 5-6 songs from Epica, I got hooked for life. I also fell in love with Simone and her voice :)

@@nasa258e It's interesting untwisting the connections between the various bands, too. Like, Mark Jansen who gave Floor the shout-out at the end of this one, was a member of After Forever, Floor's first band. When that broke up, he and Simone (dating at the time) formed the band that would become Epica, named after a Kamelot album. And now Simone is married to Oliver Palotai, Kamelot's keyboardist, and has guested on a couple of Kamelot songs. So, yeah, when someone recs Sabaton to someone familiar with Nightwish, it's almost automatic to mention the connection of Floor and Hannes being married. Or as I've seen it put, the European metal scene doesn't have a family tree, it has a family Celtic knotwork.

Floor and Simone actually shared the same classical voice coach, but at different times. Simone never followed a formal music education, but did have a lot of private lessons.

She has more power in her voice. She was tuned in a lower volume (I don't know if it's said like that in english) than Simone exactly because of that, it was Epica's moment, she was just part of it.

I think it´s a combo between expression, a fun thing to do and releasing the tension and energy.

@@asenka11 Epica is the name of the whole band :) The gorgeous lead singer is Simone Simons (soprano). The founder of the band is Mark Jansen (rhythm guitar + harsh vocals). Mark Jansen and Floor Jansen were in the same band called After Forever. They are not related, just namesakes. After the departure from AF, Mark formed Epica and Floor later formed her own band ReVamp. Simone Simons was Mark's girlfriend at the time Epica was formed (2002/2003). She joined the band very shortly after that. As you can tell, she is classically trained and her voice is usually described as "angelic and ethereal", even by professional vocal coaches. I hope you're going to react to more Epica. You haven't seen anything yet! Epica is one of the biggest names in the symphonic metal sub-genre, just like Nightwish or Therion. Their music will blow your mind if you keep discovering it. Very diverse, from heavy headbangers through more mainstream-friendly, to wonderful ballads and acoustic versions of their song. Epica's musical composition is brilliant, no generic metal with yelling singers that you would forget as soon as they stop playing. Heavy guitar riffs combined with fully orchestral sound, choirs and one amazing soprano, often in juxtaposition to Mark's harsh vocals, the concept that comes from gothic metal and is known as "beauty and the beast". Their song structures, melodies, chord progressions, time signatures, etc., everything is amazing! "Sancta Terra" is probably not even in their top 10 best songs. Most Nightwish fans only recommend it because it features Floor. Would you like some tips from Epicans? :)

Why not to start with the debut album and then continue chronologically. TPA is absolutely brilliant. And Simone's young voice is just mesmerising. Pure beauty.

@@henkraadmaar4072 No problem :) Well, I like Omega and I listen to it regularly, but I don't think it's their best album. Have you listened to "Design Your Universe" (Gold Edition) a couple times in a row? :) I still think this is their magnum opus. So many incredible songs in just one album, plus acoustic versions...
