This is one of the few cars that I like with a wing (but not that big wing). Im blown away with what Toyota did with the looks of the FT86, I think its possibly the best looking Japanese car of the last 15 years!

Rocket Bunny produces one of the most exotic and exciting looking body kits around, and that goes for nearly every model they manufacture them for. I would have to say the S13/14/15 and FRS/BRZ kits are my favorite. Especially the S13 & FRS/BRZ kits. The S13, though, just has a classic yet modern appearance and isn't rivaled in originality by anyone else. That I've yet to come across anyway. Of course all that downforce is no good unless you have the power to match it and sadly a large number of the FRS/BRZ's that I see with the kit have very little done to the power plant, mostly just I/H/E. There is a young kid with rich parents here in Glendale, AZ though that has a R.B. kit and a turbo to even the cars function and form. Sure wish I could've afforded a $50K+ car when I was 17 but I cant hate on the kid. If I had rich parents, or was rich enough myself with a 17y.o. kid that was passionate about cars, I'd do the same. You cant punish those who have capitalized on capitalism. Thats why we're the US of A!! And Im god damn proud Im American. Even if the Japanese and Europeans produce a larger number of, high performing, circuit friendly, & financially obtainable sports cars. Sure the ZL1/Z28 Camaro, Z06/Stingray Corvette, and Boss Mustang are fantastic around the track, but thats only 3 models (with different variants) under $70K. You could throw in the ZR1 Vette, SRT10ACR/2013+ Viper, and Ford GT in the mix but new they're all over $100K and expensive as hell to maintain. Nobody that isn't a millionaire or house broke can afford the upkeep necessary to maintain the high performance these cars are capable of.

If the wheel grinds on the fender or not is dependent on the offset. Spacers wont really affect handling too much to be honest.

the other thing i know is that the brz comes standard with options you have to pay for separately if you buy the frs. A guy i know has a brz and when i rode in it he mentioned all that stuff. Apparently its a lot harder to get a brz than an frs as well. Said they sold one brz for every 10 frs'

Well thats interesting, but speaking with the guys here we were getting told the FR-S is about 1.9 million yen which is only a fraction cheaper than the GT-86 not really half the price.

The engine bay is spacious too. I saw a video where some guy had put an LS1 in there. But the engine it comes with is plenty fine. I am sure you can put a turbo on it and get your extra few horses if you really want to.

The wheels are special enkei. Were only available in jdm until this year. A few online stores like evasive or password jdm sell them.

All three GT86, FRS, and BRZ are built at the Fuji Heavy Industries plant in Gunma Prefecture, so my assumption is he must of bought the car before it got shipped to North America; reason for the LHD and Scion badges in Japan.

I just bought an FR-S a week ago and it is really a fun car to drive... kinda upset that I shouldn't go over 4000 rpm for the first 1000 miles though.. I don't care about all the negative comments I read on here about this car or the other... if your car is fun to drive, that's all that matters. Spend money on rims if you want attention, but otherwise, quit complaining, fanboys.

correction, power will increase your top speed by A LOT. and more top speed plus agressive driving will put you in situations when you will have to make emergency braking from 200km/h+ so those stock brakes won't last long and will fade every time. and it doesn't have to be track driving either. theory aside, i raised my cars hp by 80 and i'm killing my big brake kit now, no way my stock brakes would manage.

I think this car could not drift as easily than the stock one anymore. Wider track and wider tire contact patch on stock engine. And very likely such setup you could mash the throttle all the way around a corner and not loose speed. I think this car would be very good on touge and track where extreme grip is more preferred.

They're actually cheap than the 86/BRZ as well in Japan, also left hand drive makes it stand out more which is what he wants.

When it is new, they were selling it as a reachable drift car (stock). You are right that short platform cars have very hard time maintaining long drifts (AE 86). Longer platform cars like S15 and R3x/ JZA series cars can do longer drifts. But because many D1 teams in Japan is starting to use this car it has somewhat rubbed on to everyone that it is the drift car to use. It would probably do better in tighter course. Touge should be GT86 forte rather than drift.

despite the use in D1GP, I don't really think the GT86 platform is as "drift compatible" as the Silvia's, JZX series and the 4door skylines were in the first place, even when stock. As you said, grip racing is probably where it excels.

The car is still pretty much standard engine wise, there is no need to upgrade the brakes. And when the engine does get turbo charged it will probably get better brake pads or a brake upgrade. These things don't need big brakes they don't make a large amount of power and especially not for what Miura-san uses it for which is mainly to promote his Aero designs, he does not take this car circuit racing. Commonsense can only be attained when you know all the facts.

Well for one, a left hand drive Scion is super unique there. Second, Toyota had a deal where they would let tuning shops bring over two Scions for the price of one Toyota GT86 for some reason. That's what I'd do.

depends on the quality of your cambers and offset, you should do lots of research and see what you like and what people post up before doing your own.

That doesn't really change my opinion. Because the order is important too. It's just crap if you have a fast car but you can't stop it as soon as a corner apears, that just makes the tuning useless. The first thing I tuned on my evo x was the suspension for better handling, second were the brakes, third clutch and gearbox improvements and after that I started with the engine, turbo and aerodynamics.

put a turbo on the car if you want more power. Current turbos do 500hp with stock internals. How is that for quality?
