Quick project of installing my E-fan in my s52 swapped e30.
These brackets made a quick and clean install of the fan.

Im also in the process of doing an s52 e30 swap. Should be done with the actual swap soon, plan is to get the essential things done first then work on all the extra bits slowly. We need a gc for all the e30 s52 bois

I hope that's a puller fan... Pusher goes in front of the radiator, puller goes behind the radiator to pull air through it. I made this mistake and had to re-order the right SPAL fan on my E30.

I’m not a physicists or an engineer, but regardless of the issue that your engine will crush your fan (which it probably will) that fan can spin at the speed of light, but if there’s no where to displace the air it’s pulling through, that’s going to do a crappy job at actually cooling. It’s like putting a fan up against a wall, yeah it will spin, it might move some air, but it’s not going to do a good job at venting.

Great built so far but two this are bothering me. 1) You need to run an ATI harmonic damper or equivalent 2) Pusher fans go on the outside of the rad whereas pullers go on the inside. It’s best to run pullers on the inside so you’re not fighting natural airflow. S52 swap E30’s can put a pusher between the rad and the intercooler to protect against engine movement.

Chasebays sells a really nice tucked aluminum radiator that would give the front of your engine wayy more room

i am quite sure when you decelerate/accelerate you will destroy your fan, because engine moves forward and practically you don´t have any free space between engine and fan. maybe camera angle fools but it seem that way right now

Fiorello Rand it’s on stiff poly everything. But yes there is very little room.

Option B would be to use an e34 528i radiator? This would probably allow for a clutch fan, at least the thin euro diesel fan (11522243303).

I have a e36 rad in my S52 swap with a clutch fan and daily it in Arizona during the summer with no issues

A Han Oh yeah, trust me I wish I could run a clutch fan. This is unfortunately my best option.

Im in the process of doing this to my m54b30 e39 , only questions i have only because im not too familiar with drills or bits but what exact drill bit did you use and what tool did you use to thread the holes on the radiator for the bolts to screw in? I have the same exact 16’ spal fan with brackets but am not to familiar/ first time drilling anything .

This was replaced with 2 10” fans due to clearance issues.

A 16” fan is typically enough cooling though. E36 guys do clutch fan deletes constantly.

I feel it would have been better to put the fan on the intake side of the radiator so the air would have had some place to go.

100%. There is practically no room, everything is getting trimmed and modified to be tighter.
