I’ve been trying to master air roll for a while now and your tutorial is amazing but a HUGE tip I found for air rolling is paying close attention to the hood of your car. I found that the direction you fly all relies on where the hood of your car is pointing. So, if you look at that while making minor adjustments you will be far more successful.

The Pillars and Utopia Retro maps have paths you can fly around on to practice your control. Pillars offers 3 paths: big circle around the outside, small circle through the middle, and a figure 8 around both pillars. Utopia Retro offers you a perfect circle with a tight tunnel to practice on. I like to try to get up as high as I can on it and then drop through the goal tunnel before shooting back up.

This was great. An extra bit that I think has helped me out is -- going off what was said about input having an opposite effect when the top of the car is facing away from the camera -- I can alternate downright and upright half way through each rotation in order to have a bit more control.
@Drummerbrah16
@Drummerbrah16 3 года назад
I've been discouraged from practicing this for a while because I'm a console player. I'm going to try starting in the middle of the goal on one side of the field, and focus on moving to the other end in whichever direction I'm practicing. This should resemble the training at 10:16. For example, I'll start with moving to the right end of the field. The easier that becomes, move the distance closer to half field. Repeat this moving left and then alternate them together to mimic the small adjustments needed in the air with muscle memory. Hopefully I'll give this a try and report back with my progress!
@Drummerbrah16
@Drummerbrah16 3 года назад
Reporting back, it was the right idea but I found myself easily distracted lol. Just watched a video from Tipp and he suggested using the pillars map in free play. Because it's not a standard map it should keep me focused on the tips I learned in this video! Thanks for taking the time to read my rambling!

What I did to get started was realising that: Whenever the top of the car is facing me, I do my forward/backwards adjustments and whenever the top of the car is to the right/left side id make my right and left adjustments. Of course, this isn't perfect. To have it completely down I should also be able to adjust when the bottom of my car is facing me, and likewise for right/left movements. All id had to do is do the reverse of when the top of my car is facing me. But thats obviously easier said then done, still learning it

Air roll right is the opposite way, also KBM uses W and S + tornado spin so basically if u have air roll left then to go left you hold Q S D and to go right you hold Q W D. Air roll right however is the opposite so basically A S E for right and A W E for left, thank me later. Edit: Q and E arent needed for directional air roll on kbm, you can change it to whatever you want but mine are binded to Q for left and E for right. Also tornado spin is Air roll left/right button+ A/D, A for air roll right and D for air roll left if u were wondering

The best tip i ever got was, air roll movement comes from learning the 4 basic spin motions: kuxir twist (down), reverse kuxir twist (up), tornado spin (left or right), and reverse tornado spin (opposite tornado spin). The combinations of those 4 spins, are all you need. That being said, 4 months later and circling pillars is still hard

Another amazing video tutorial Spook thank you. This has really my progress with air rolling no end and I am actually building an understanding of what I am doing and more importantly why. I think this coupled with your other air roll left videos should be more than enough to get anyone doing it as long as they put the time in to practice. One tip I might add is when I was learning from your videos I went to leth’s giant rings map and set it to impossible mode and I kept driving through and back through the first stage over and over. It gives you enough opportunities to learn the movement patterns without being too difficult but gives you the rings to aim for.

I am a champ player just starting to learn air roll now. The thing im thinking about a lot is WHEN to use it. So at risk of sounding completely noobie, is the primary purpose that it is simply a more stable way to aerial? As in, once you can control your airl roll you can better control your movement in the air? An added perk being that it adds a lot of distraction and second guessing for your opponents 😂

I tell you what Spook, there has not been a better air roll tutorial that I have seen yet! I really enjoy the more in-depth look at this and it almost instantly clicked for me for the fundamentals of air roll left. I have watched a ridiculous amount of air roll videos on YT from several different creators and this one by far is the best quality for those who are just getting into air roll all the way to those who are looking to finally master it, thanks for putting in the effort and making such an awesome vid!
