James Gunn said that he agreed to direct Guardians in the first place because he felt a special connection to Rocket so much so that he said he "loved him like he was his son". He said that Rocket had to be the saddest little creature in the universe and just had to explore his backstory. So, it's quite fitting that Rocket becomes the leader of the next incarnation of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn's Rocket Raccoon is easily up there with Josh Brolin's Thanos, Andy Serkis' Gollum & Ceaser, and Bill Nighy's Davy Jones as one of the greatest CGI and mo-cap characters to ever be put on the big screen

Rocket has been my favourite Guardian ever since the very first film. And the third film just made me love and care for him *even* more. Fantastic edit. Made me laugh, smile, and cry. Edit: This video delivered much better on the emotions of Rocket’s backstory, rather than the Marvel Legends Rocket episode. And that’s really saying something.

Rocket's journey has been the most powerful in the entire MCU, without a single doubt. Rewatching Guardians 1 & 2 after watching the third adds so much and you can really feel how Rocket masks his pain behind his tough guy act and avoiding, initially, to get attached with his newfound family. It's clear how much James Gunn loves the charactrer as he always stated Rocket is his favorite. Amazing tribute, by the way.

❤️My Favorite And Most Beloved Character In The MCU! Rocket had a dark past went through traumatic and broken things. But when he escaped and went free deep down he has a good kind soft heart. That needed to be loved and cared for. It’s what I see in him. 🥰 He Is My Fluffy Little Guardian Hero. Nothing can change that.

Vol 3 was an absolute emotional rollercoaster man. Baby raccoons voice was enough to give me teary eyes. Tragedy over tragedy was like holy shit, made me feel really scared about the characters life, you don't feel scared for the main characters often.

This tribute sums up perfectly who rocket is. Something that has been broken by the world but something that also has grown because of it. Rocket is the perfect incarnation of a character with a tragic backstorie, but he is also one who never lost hope to find something new. I thank you for this.

Love rockets story because it very much represents the quote from obi Wan kenobi. "You may destroy me, but those that oppose you are more powerful than you can comprehend" Rocket was utterly destroyed in his life, but instead of becoming the Villan, he used that to protect or guard those who could not protect themselves.
