Rocket Size Comparison VERSION 2
RED SIDE "STORE" is here : bit.ly/38JfIYv
A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle that obtains thrust from a rocket engine. Rocket engine exhaust is formed entirely from propellant carried within the rocket before use. Rocket engines work by action and reaction and push rockets forward simply by expelling their exhaust in the opposite direction at high speed, and can therefore work in the vacuum of space.
In fact, rockets work more efficiently in space than in an atmosphere. Multistage rockets are capable of attaining escape velocity from Earth and therefore can achieve unlimited maximum altitude. Compared with airbreathing engines, rockets are lightweight and powerful and capable of generating large accelerations. To control their flight, rockets rely on momentum, airfoils, auxiliary reaction engines, gimballed thrust, momentum wheels, deflection of the exhaust stream, propellant flow, spin, and/or gravity.
Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China. Significant scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was the enabling technology for the Space Age, including setting foot on the Earth's moon. Rockets are now used for fireworks, weaponry, ejection seats, launch vehicles for artificial satellites, human spaceflight, and space exploration.
Chemical rockets are the most common type of high power rocket, typically creating a high speed exhaust by the combustion of fuel with an oxidizer. The stored propellant can be a simple pressurized gas or a single liquid fuel that disassociates in the presence of a catalyst (monopropellants), two liquids that spontaneously react on contact (hypergolic propellants), two liquids that must be ignited to react, a solid combination of fuel with oxidizer (solid fuel), or solid fuel with liquid oxidizer (hybrid propellant system). Chemical rockets store a large amount of energy in an easily released form, and can be very dangerous. However, careful design, testing, construction and use minimizes risks.

MUSIC : Ambient Background Music - District 21
Soyuz FG:
The Soyuz-FG launch vehicle is an improved version of the Soyuz-U from the R-7 family of rockets, designed and constructed by TsSKB-Progress in Samara, Russia. It made its maiden flight on 20 May 2001, carrying a Progress cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS).
FALCON 9:
Falcon 9 is a two-stage-to-orbit medium lift launch vehicle designed and manufactured by SpaceX in the United States. It is powered by Merlin engines, also developed by SpaceX, burning liquid oxygen (LOX) and rocket-grade kerosene (RP-1) propellants. It was named after the Millennium Falcon and the nine engines of the rocket's first stage. The rocket evolved with versions v1.0 (2010-2013), v1.1 (2013-2016), v1.2 "Full Thrust" (2015-2018), and its Block 5 variant, flying since May 2018. Contrary to other rockets that are expended after the launch, Falcon 9 is partially reusable, with the first stage capable of re-entering the atmosphere and landing back vertically after separating from the second stage. This feat was achieved for the first time with the v1.2 version in December 2015.
Falcon Heavy:
Falcon Heavy is a partially reusable heavy-lift launch vehicle designed and manufactured by SpaceX. It is derived from the Falcon 9 vehicle and consists of a strengthened Falcon 9 first stage as a central core with two additional first stages as strap-on boosters.Falcon Heavy has the highest payload capacity of any currently operational launch vehicle, and the fourth-highest capacity of any rocket ever built, trailing the American Saturn V and the Soviet Energia and N1.
SpaceX conducted Falcon Heavy's maiden launch on February 6, 2018, at 3:45 p.m. EST (20:45 UTC). The rocket carried a Tesla Roadster belonging to SpaceX founder Elon Musk, as a dummy payload. The next Falcon Heavy launch is scheduled for early 2019.
New Glenn:
The New Glenn is a heavy lift orbital launch vehicle in development by Blue Origin. Design work on the vehicle began in 2012. The high-level specifications for the vehicle were publicly announced in September 2016. New Glenn is described as a 7-meter-diameter (23 ft), two- or three-stage rocket. Its first stage will be powered by seven BE-4 engines that are also being designed and manufactured by Blue Origin. Like the New Shepard suborbital launch vehicle that preceded it, the New Glenn's first stage is designed to be reusable.

Wonderful video! I admire you for making it! Nevertheless there remain a few fixes to be made - the Antares rocket has flown 8 times, of which 7 have been successful. It's status should be listed as "Active" Soyuz-FG has flown 65 times with 64 successes. Atlas V has flown 79 times with 78 successes. Vulcan's price is not yet known but in 2016 the CEO of ULA said it would start at 99 million. Ariane 4 flew 116 times, not 114. The numbers you give for the Ariane 6 launch prices are correct, but they are in Euros, not dollars. The number of stages on them is 2. The number of stages on "New Glenn 2-stage" should be listed as 2! SLS Block 1 also has 2 stages. The three-stage New Glenn should be listed as having 3 stages. It is, to the best of my knowledge, not known to be cancelled. More importantly, the image of the 3 stage New Glenn is not to scale at all with the image of the 2-stage one. More information is needed. Also, newer renderings of New Glenn have been released that can be used. SLS Block 2 crew should also be listed as having 2 stages. Same with SLS Block 1B and Block 2. The payload to LEO of SLS Block 1B is 105 metric tons and the payload to LEO of SLS Block 2 is 130 metric tons. I agree with your methods in determining the success/failure of the Energia and Space Shuttle rockets. You list STS-107 (last flight of Columbia) and Energia-Polyus as successes because the rockets themselves performed perfectly, even if their payloads failed. I think this was the right choice. That's all I can find.

i really wish the Energia rocket wasnt cancelled. its insanely powerful for its size, worked 2/2 times it was used, could have the Buran shuttle piggyback on it, could carry as much to orbit as Starship, and just looked awesome too.
@k1productions87
@k1productions87 Год назад
@@sethdrake7551 Yeah, the video did get that aspect wrong. It did actually fly. And the Buran worked beautifully too. It just gets labelled as a failure because it only had one flight... but that was entirely the fault of the Soviet Union collapse, and something like half of the infrastructure subsequently being outside of Russia.
@jmwoods190
@jmwoods190 Год назад
@@sethdrake7551 And don't forget its proposed big brother, the Vulkan- 8 instead of 4 Zenit booster attached to the Energia core. @alm5992 2 года назад
It's really a shame the N1 never worked right, it has an interesting design.
@jeffsampson5822
@jeffsampson5822 2 года назад
The "skirt" design was due to the fact that all of the propellant tanks were perfect spheres, for structural stability. The clustered engines were due to the fact that the Soviet Union did not want to deal with the pains of developing a massive engine like the F-1. What they did instead was built an engine that consumed less propellant to run the turbopumps, and fed hot air into the exhaust to get an afterburner effect. And they were multi-chambered. So, technically, these engines were more efficient and had slightly higher thrust, but that was only due to the fact that each engine was, in effect, multiple little engines strapped together, and then clustered into 30 strapped together engines.
@SMGJohn
@SMGJohn 2 года назад
It failed because they never properly tested the first stage, they only tested one and one engine, not all of them at the same time, had they done that they would have found the fault, this is what happens when politicians meddle in business of engineers and scientists.

It burns at the optimal chemical ratio for combustion, neither oxygen rich nor fuel rich.

Slight correction, sorry if this comes off as rude: The Orion was a general design for an engine that worked by using nuclear explosions, unlike current rockets and their continuous chemical (or possibly nuclear) reactions. It wouldn't have a smooth stream of exhaust off the back. Also, it would still need to be sent into at least the upper atmosphere by some other rocket, making it taller.
@deejaytrizay
@deejaytrizay 2 года назад
It's not rude. I have to disagree. I am a Dr. Hersch Wellington and I was actually a lead Engineer on the Orion project aka "Hummingbird II - originally." We had originally designed it to be carried by a Helix 19 - classified, which is another nuclear powered propulsion rocket and ultimately making the Orion over 17,000,000 meters tall. It would have a speed of 9 trillion mph after we put the dragon balls in it.

@Anonymous Freak, umm actually... the U.S. Space shuttle is an assembly of rockets, fuel tanks and the orbiter combined, the space shuttle can go into space on it's own because it is a rocket however send up the Orbiter by itself and you probably won't even get off the ground, the thrust might get you into the air but it's designed to orbit the earth and then descend for a glide onto a runway, that's it.
