like you say simple,,, now that you have shown it, I bought some plans,, but still have a few reservationtions about building a stove,, mainly as my current one heats water... I have to decide this summer if I am going to build one .

You could make a light weight version out of modern materials that could be lifted off if you needed more flat cook surface
