True 'rocket' stoves generate positive flue pressure by way of the proportions between the initial firebox, the throat and the burn tube such that the fluctuating pressure in the burn tube acts to 'push' the expanding gases along the exhaust, much in the same manner as a WW2 doodlebug. This effect is solely due to the 'flue' having a lower restriction than the throat and, therefore, it's actually an exhaust, not a flue. This characteristic allows for a long, horizontal and serpentine exhaust which, in turn, allows for efficient and almost complete heat recovery from the also highly efficient but, initially, very heavily insulated, burn. Hence, a rocket stove and it's exhaust system, well designed and installed, is by far the most efficient method of converting fuel into heat for domestic use.
