Rocketman is directed by the man who replaced Singer on Bohemian Rhapsody. Besides, it has grossed $850M worldwide, and received 5 Oscar nominations. It also won several other awards, including Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG. It's hard to find a metric by which it can meaningfully be called "a failure".
