Taron Egerton is also doing all the singing which is super impressive. I think this film looks great & they look to be attempting a different take on the bog standard biopic which is refreshing. Great reaction as always guys xxx
Elton John is a producer for his biopic, so he gets a say in how his story is told, which I like. They did with TLC, New Edition, Bobby Brown, all really great biopics.
John Cash actually died about two years before "Walk the Line" was released. He also died only four months after his wife, June Carter, did. Also, "Demolition Man" was Jack Black's third movie. He was in a movie called "Airborne," released the month before. Seth Green was in that movie too. His first movie was the year before (1992), called "Bob Roberts" and starring Tim Robbins.
It's only weird, to me, when biopics (and biographies) are produced when the person-in-question is still in their 20s or thirties (unless they've already passed). Now Elton John is alive but also a legend within a certain age group and I've heard that some people like to be able to contribute to the fact-checking process and have SOME creative control over how they're portayed and who portrays them. I don't know but Elton seems like the type who'd want to be around to say, NOPE in case you were interested, didn't happen like that. 🤷🏾♀️ ✔✔
Ray Charles was also alive during "Ray" but died before it released I believe. I think they did this while Elton is Alive bcuz of how well Taron sang I'm Still Standing in "SING!" and how much they look alike.
Daytona*Beach , actually after the horse on a British show “Steptoe and Son”; which “Sanford and Son” was based on ( minus the horse). According to him, his mother was not thrilled!
I think you are confusing BIO with TRIBUTE. This movie had been described as a fantasy musical. Based on the life and songs of Elton. Not quite the same as a pure Bio pic. But a lot will depend on how much the viewer already knows about Elton's history. Some will be informed. Others will be along for the musical numbers. Thanks for the reaction. One of my favorite reaction channels. Unforced, natural humor. "Did he kill that guy?" Side note: I think when people are super-famous, it's rare to have a bio-pic based on their lives when they're still vital and active. However, I think it's pretty common for lesser-known people to have movies based on their lives get made, even as those people are still young. For example "Fighting with my Family" that just came out. Or a favorite movie of mine from a while back, "Searching for Bobby Fisher," which was about the young chess player Josh Waitzkin. Or even the movie "Born on the Fourth of July" about Ron Kovic. The list goes on.
I also think it's a little weird to do a biopic of someone who is still an active celebrity, but on the other hand I love Elton John and I love the fantastical concept of this movie, so I'm ready for this!!
What about Loretta Lynn and Greg Louganis who were very much alive when their biopics were out? Even Michael Jackson was still alive when that 4 hour biopic was on.
John Cash died like a good two years before the film about him came out. Idk. It’s strange to make a biopic while someone is still alive but also kinda shitty to make one only two to three years after they’ve died.
