Elton never preaches perfection. He is flawed, yes, but so is every human being. Bernie has spoken to this as well, but a lot of the demons Elton faced stemmed from his addictions. They are an aspect of who he was, or perhaps still is, but they don't define his character or integrity. He has taken huge strides in the past few decades, finding a real love with his husband, starting a family... finding his roots again so to speak. This film actually welcomes, showcases, some of the more gritty, darker sides that can be brought out by addiction... but without our faults and without our struggles we could never fully appreciate the good days. We could not empathize on a deeper level with those around us. Elton doesn't shy away from his past or the mistakes he's made. He wants others to learn that it is okay to need help and to ask for it. I have nothing but respect for a person who can reach rock bottom and learn enough from the experience to flourish and go on to help others. So... I truly don't agree with you. But to each their own I suppose.

Sometimes I think fans are entitled morons too. They think the stars owe them everything. Stars are human and are breakable.They can have bad days and fans can be incredibly pushy. Especially when the star isn't performing or at a public event. No fan has the right to bug a star for something as insignificant as an autograph. Fans say the stars owe them, but the stars don't grab them by the neck and force them to spend money. That's the fans' choice..
