There definitely is something charming about things that are not perfect. I'm a woodworker and when I was routing the edge of a table top, the bit came loose and took a huge chunk out of the side of the table top. I sanded it down smooth and that's when I realized that those little imperfections give character to the project. I actually add those imperfections to my projects now.

This is really cool. I've always looked at stonework and carving as some incomprehensible thing. I guess some of the stuff just isn't as hard as I thought.

@@MikeHaduck That would be great! Please let me know. I would love to meet you, it would be an honor. If you post your concert dates on YT you know I'll see them and of course I would go to see you guys play. I need something different than just working around this house. Going stir crazy! It's looking great though. -Er, thanks to you. My one neighbor jammed his brakes on and stopped to look at what I did. I was at the top of my house laughing. Even the USPS gal said it's beautiful. I also travel Mike, so if you're anywhere w/i 75 miles no problem. I traveled three states for work so there's that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love cullums. Just imagine what a great time I hade a few years ago, working in Athens and Thessaloniki. Cullums in all shapes and sizes. Among all the picture I took, I also god some of brick buildings, to show a masonry master, if our paths ever cross. Guess there's little doubt he have had an impact on my understanding and appreciation of stone masonry. I wonder who he might be Sir.......

I have watched a number of videos of a channel called UnchartedX and they delve into some of the incredible precision of the artifacts from ancient Egypt and there’s a video he has on the most precise granite box ever found in Egypt and they go through the astounding precision necessary to make this box, which was made 4000 BC and the incredible flatness and carving of this thing really makes it obvious that they must have used some kind of tooling that we have not yet discovered.

Given the 1000x productivity advantage over the ancients who devised the architecture, can't help thinking there should be an update to the aesthetic that reflects that and encodes the same virtue as the ancients held. Just rambling..

@@MikeHaduck Is stone masonry/bricklaying still a viable trade? In Canada, all the bricklayers do ICFs, veneer, restoration work, and occasionally CMUs for firewalls. Landscapers do all the paving stone work here. Both trades are Red Seal certified, and you need to complete a 4-year apprenticeship.
