Mayhem receiving the Rockheim Hall of Fame award. Band Playing Tribute with the track "Freezing Moon": Samoth and Trym from Emperor Gaahl from Gaahl's Wyrd Neddo from Cadaver Inc. Snorre Ruch of Thorns
@@zbigniewiksinskiThat is Snorre Ruch playing that solo. He is the guitarist who created the Norwegian black metal style of playing. He knows what he is doing, and you do not know shit.
I would say it's too wholesome. Like the Simpsons sitting down to watch a metal show. Strange to think that in the '80s, conservative Christians felt they were going to be the downfall of humanity, despite being the only T.V. family that was in church every Sunday and were somewhat conservative.
@@namename-oi4lm Gaahl sings way better than Dead. Guys, stop this silly fan attitude. Dead was not a great singer but a fantastic performer. Gaahl is sometimes out of tune here but it cannot be worse than Dead.
Ghaal did the DEAD speech at the beginning and delivered a DMDS Attila-esque performance after. Fvckking well done. Samoth & Snorre are absolute Legends
can you give me more details as to what you mean by your comment? I honestly just don't understand. I was genuinely confused as to why he performed like this.
# 1 Trym defiantly put his signature sound to the drums. #2. I love how Hellhammer is sitting there like “I’ve heard my Fucking friends play this song so many god damn times….”
Anybody noticed how Gaahl not only pays tribute to Mayhem by singing "Freezing Moon" but also never stands up until the vocals are over, that's a big sign of respect towards Mayhem's Legacy...never forgetting his place among Black Metal's forefathers. #gaahl🙌
It’s amazing seeing Snorre up there playing. Especially given his history with Mayhem.. like doing the art for DMDS, writing for the album and then being sentenced to 8 years in prison for being an accomplice to the murder of Euronymous (he drove Varg and watched the whole thing).. wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person.. and massive props to Mayhem for keeping him part of the “circle”..
@@containternet9290 oh boy.. youre a bit special arent you? you obviously either dont know the history of his involvement in Mayhem and the recording of DMDS.. i suggest you buy the new boxset.. that should help you....
@@playitstrange129 Pytten himself already said how the album was recorded. Snorre also said in a podcast what his contributions were, it's minor stuff.
Huge props to Norwegian national television for not only paying homage to the nations black metal heritage but also for encouraging the artists paying tribute to put their own artistic expression in to it. The Chainsaw Gutsfuck tribute is very good as well.
@@letthemadnessspeak thats ur opinon, not mine.If you dont like it - its completely fine. You can just skip and move along.Thats what smart and educated ppl do instead of b*ching on something they dont like.
Gaahl added his own little design to the vocals. It’s great to see a tribute of a legendary band like Mayhem; people I suppose won’t like this version. I just like the originality that Gaahl displayed. Dedicated to Dead’s style.
You again? Atilla was Dead's favorite vocalist. Anyone with half a brain knows that Dead vocal skills were primitive featuring no technique, which is normal since he didnt have time to hone his skills. Dead was a better lyricist than vocalist.
Wow so cool to see Snorre play!He and Samoth are my two heroes so this is amazing, let’s hope to hear a lot more from Snorre soon with the new Thorns album🖤
There are two people who listen to black metal, those who are aware of Snorre's importance, and those who are not. I call the latter people who enjoy black metal, but are not fans.
Awsome tribute!!! Noticed Gaahl tried to pay tribute to the multiple singers of Mayhem, exeptionally good job! Snorre, who helped creating the sound of Black Metal so much, is a must have in this tribute. Pure Fucking Legends!!!
@@jacksonsmith5008 Indeed - Snørre was affected by a no-good, selfish person at times. But people can change and his influence on Black Metal is undisputed! By the way, Snørre sat in a car in front of the appartment building, where Øystein used to live and he paid his (much to high) dues for his role in it.
@@balrogofmorgoth2653 I agree with the OP and The one. Gaahl's voice is not what it used to be in raw black/death metal. I like his baritonal singing and whispers in Wardruna more than this one. He should get back to Wardruna.
for real @Balrog. well said. he's the most talented (objectively, he has the most range and HITS those notes so well live) singer in the whole BM scene, i believe. him and Sakis from Rotting Christ (he gets points for being so creative)
??? Not sure what period you are talking about or what your criterias are, but I’ve seen them live twice with their current lineup and their shows were absolute killers. Extremely professional, anyone could easily tell how serious they are about their music.
@@grindylover Everyone was on their way to kill Euronymous. Gaahl was just packing up his bondage gear and kitchen bleach when he caught wind of Varg getting there first.
@@wesleywarsmith1113 Thomas Eriksen from Mork was at Snorre's place the other day and said he listened to it, so I think this time it's really gonna happen. PS. I saw this on Mork's Facebook page
@@igortomaz4225 Right on. I am baned from Facebook so I can't go see. But I'm glad to hear it. That self titled one is in my top five of all time. I've been awaiting another ever since I baught it .Im especially interested in the lineup.
I like it slowed down a bit, it sounds pretty brutal even slowed down a bit. Gahhl did a good job on vocals to he did it how he would if it were written by him. Plus the dude is almost 50 try being a metal vocalist that long.
Gaahl actually put a great peformance. He is obviously feeling the vibe and he delivered some great atmosphere which corresponds to the lyrics. The sound of generic black metal vocals would be boring as hell in this case. Also, his shaking hands are not the sign of being nervous but the sign of being totally focused and being in the zone.
Has to be so amazing to have made super influential music and to have your peers who have been very successful too play your most famous song directly in front of you
its weird to think we went from pig heads and Self Mutilation during this song to it being on TV also on that note no matter your opinions on either of them, it sucks that Pelle and Oystein arent on that couch
The Mayhem guys watching from the couch is about as awkward as Euronymous’s crop-top shirt… but come on. This is fine. Gaahl seems nervous, but what’s he going to do, try to impersonate Attila? Not possible. And if he just did it in his standard Gorgoroth voice, that wouldn’t really work either. He’s screwed either way. It’s fine. What’s important is a) SNORRE IS THERE (Teloch is fixated on him, rightfully) and the bass tone is perfect. If there’s anything to criticize, it’s Necrobutcher’s Necro-man-bun or whatever that thing is.
There is nothing cringier than old guys on the couch listening to somebody else performing their music. I've seen it countless of times on these "hall of fame" vids, and it fails every time, no matter how good the performance is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As a Master in Piano Playing that have listened black metal since 12yo, I am gladd to say that I am hearing this nice Cover while reading Cosmos of Carl Sagan. It match perfectly, for an instance when Sagan speaks about Giordano Bruno.
Snorre doesn't need to dress up because he basically invented Black Metal. You'll never see anyone flex so hard simply by wearing a green hoodie in your life.
No he did not. He invented one guitar technique which was to flutter around all six strings in minor chord. Hardly this is the definition of black metal when there are tons of bands that does not even use it.
@@twikirobot6897 Dude, they didnt care enuff for Oystein. He was a communist wich is lame to most black metal musician's among many other things wrong. He bullied Per as well. Don't make a big deal out of something everyone is over.
