I had different problems with both my rockhoppers. Cables seize if not in use for a while, inspite of plenty of lube. In the end I cut the cable on one and drilled a hole just beside my left hip . Shortening the cable made it easier to keep free. I know you should paddle as though you don't have a skeg but sometimes I am very glad to have it. Keep paddling.
