We love a good adventure at OPE Rocks so why not head up to Grand Marais Michigan for some 15 degree rockhounding, OPE!! Besides the cold temps, the weather in general couldn't have been better for this time of year. The beach was open with some remaining ice shoves. The agates were there but lots of rocks to sort through. We did great Yooperlite hunting both nights, and found some agates, jasper, funky stuff, and even some fossils. We had a great time and hope you enjoy the video, don't forget to support the channel and drop a like or if you'd like to see more be sure to subscribe!

One good thing about rock hunting in the cold, is that you have the beach to yourself :) Love the colors up there !! I found one just like yours at 12:53. I called it the tire track jasper. Still not sure what kind of jasper it is. So many beautiful bright colors and very nice agate finds😊

Yeah you weren’t kidding that the cold can mess with the camera 😁 It was definitely peaceful with very few others braving the cold. We spent 20 hours on the beach in two days and loved every second of it!

You had a successful weekend fellow rockhound! 😊 I try to go to Grand Marais really early every year also, sometimes I find agates, just never any big ones, but one of these times I'm hoping that will change!

12:08 I couldn't decipher what you said; what are they? Seeing snow on the beach is so foreign to me as I rockhound on California and Washington beaches. Beautiful rocks in your area and I saw plenty I would've taken home. ROCK ON!! 😃👍🏻🪨⛏️

Hi!! Thanks for watching, those are Omar’s, short for Omarolluk. Some people pass them up but I really like them and the geology behind their formation ❤️

@OPE Rocks Just googled and they're rare and looks like not a lot of holes. So mine must not be one. Phooey. Thanks for sharing!!

I'm no expert either, but the rock at 10:40 looks like magnetite. Do magnets stick to it? Great finds!
@Operocks
@Operocks 11 месяцев назад
You are correct, it is Jasper and magnetite…I forgot all about trying the magnet before doing the video lol Thanks for watching!!
