this place looks insanely desolate, gotta love the high desert! Just a few rockhounds and a few million pounds of agate lol. But honestly is it quantity over quality? It kinda looks that way to me, but I wasnt there, so you tell me. Still really impressive just in sheer quantity!
@CurrentlyRockhounding
@CurrentlyRockhounding 3 года назад
So I kinda agree with you here about the quantity over quality, let me explain, I certainly picked up and brought home some agate that is pretty meh... but I also got some really good one, I think part of the problem with a place like this is that it's so big, there such a lack of information on the location that its hard to know what is really good and that's a big part of this project here and the video, someone like yourself can my mistakes and wins and build off of them.
@mitchgillilan

@@CurrentlyRockhounding when I pick up a stone, and if it doesnt speak to me, I leave it nowdays. I try and look it over with a mindset of "do I really need this?" If it looks like a big white 20 pound chunk of fractured chalcedony, I know its going to look even more BLAH when I take it home and look at it lol. We can all learn someting from our instincts, and not act on impulsive "I NEED THIS" type of thinking. I know your pretty good about leaving the junk and taking the quality only.

We all need to enjoy this area while we can. There is a huge controversy in that area regarding massive commercial lithium mining that would completely destroy the scenery, drain what bit of groundwater there is and create pollution and semi truck traffic and noise in the area. The native tribes are protesting as are local farmers and nature lovers (including rockhounds). We need to push companies to find ways to mine minerals in a more eco friendly manner. Wow those are huge rocks!!!
