Really sweet of you to take your son on these trips and share your passion with him. If I'd had a dad like you I'd consider myself lucky and look back on those memories fondly; I'm sure your son will as well.
I'm so glad to find your channel. I live in North Bend and often rockhound the Snoqualmie River from the south fork, mostly the middle fork and down to Fall City. There are so many rock and mineral varieties in this region.
Yes that red Jasper is called Washington Poppy Jasper. Also, and I'm not totally sure but, the black and white stone reminds me of Zebra Jasper. Nice finds.

Love the slab with the Marcasite inclusions!!! Very cool fossil leaf imprints too. Its so fun finding petrified wood, thinking of at one time it was a living tree a very long time ago. Thanks for sharing guys! I love the fact that you restored that saw, that looks like a job well done!

Love the jump scene at the end, reminds me of one of my sons. You know that if you share enough advice with kids (as I've obviously seen in your videos), they learn, along with the (fortunate or unfortunate) early development of frontal lobe, making that jump attempt that much more difficult:) Great videos. Aidan left the stone on the log that you told him to set it on, dad. I could see it in the background as you were encouraging him to jump the stream. Oh, what a shame and dad, why did you leave that beautiful, jet black petrified wood? Nice trip though. ☺️
The black with the gold streaks in it I have found a couple of pieces just like the one you found. The ones that I’ve found were in the Camas Washougal area of Washington. My biggest piece I found I brought to the Richardson rock ranch and had them cut it because my saw was to small. They told me it was pyrite but it was the first they have seen anything like it. Knowing that I’m sure it’s not that common nice finds guys.
@@vugmeister918 NICE! For some reason I seem to find them wherever I go around here. All alone the shores and even the rivers. They are such awesome specimens. A lot of them have hematite throughout too. Shines up beautifully. HH😎🐾

Having lived in WA for 12 years, Id only ever found 1 that looked that cool while beach hounding. If youre ever in Texas, I can point out some spaces for you to hunt. But Id love to contact you further, maybe via phone. I did months of research and found amazing spots almost nobody knows about. Noticed your kids Moab shirt. I found some nice blue agate by canyonlands. But my favorite rockhounding is near the middle fork of the snoqualmie river where I find museum quality concretions.

Oh right on! I just saw you did the blue candy outcrop a few months ago too! Good stuff out there. Used to so up there and guide some folks up to the spot with Wade or "quartz cowboy" a lot over the past couple years. And that jasper is DEF poppy jasper hah. Good find ! I primarily specialize in nephrite and gold prospecting around here.
If you like natural agate, go down on the Grays river abd take the fossil creek road till you come out on the river. Check the gravel bars there. We used to bring hoime tons of it when I was a kid.
I’m go g this weekend hopefully I’ll find something good. The “agate” circles are veins of quartz poking through. It probably looks crazy on the inside of that piece of wood

You found the Big green . It was save. Usually for paint . The best . Is half clay crayon-ish , that small black could make two dollars , but mixed right you might make silver, Usually with that green stone . The brown stone was pottery clay . The red rock is used for brick . The big black was very Beautiful usually called marble.

pluecherry7 hey man I'd love to ! I'm mostly a jade guy but there is a park near my hour over on south Seattle (I'm on Alki on the water near the point) that has a ton of large boulders from where I believe is the Cadman quarry. I'm about to finish extracting a huge vein of milky calcite beteeen layers of small botryoidal white crystal chalcedony within one of the boulders. The section is probably like 25x5x20 in.
I live in North Bend and often travel up past Monroe to hound the Skykomish for garnets and gold. I'd be more than happy to team up sometime for an adventure.

I also just subscribed to Zenmaster6. It's a shame the area you wanted to go to was closed but it looks like you still had good finds. I assume all those log jams means that the river sees so much winter flow that everything is turning over all the time? 9:48 that poppy jasper is awesome! I wish we had that on the east side. I would love to see a video about your saw. I just got an old 14" saw myself.
The Cedar River normally doesn’t flood every year because they control the outflow from the dam in the mountains. But this year was bad enough to close Hwy 169 for a week for repairs and it uprooted trees. The last time this river flooded was back in the mid ‘90’s. Yes the poppy jasper was a treat and congrats on your saw!

Unfortunately the iron in it completely rusted just from the gaseous H2O floating around in the air. Would probably have to glue a slab of clear quartz over it when it’s still fresh and then cab it.
The black rock 11:51 may be granite. Try searching 'black granite with yellow veins' . The yellow veins could be sulfur or pyrite with just enough iron to cause it to oxide rusty brown. The light colored inclusions on the outside of the rock may be common opal. Very interesting rock. Good hunting.
That’s a good possibility, I did a little more research, and the Washington mineral council website states that Cherry Creek up by Duvall has black petrified wood with Marcasite; a type of pyrite like you mentioned. This is what I’m kind of leaning towards.

@@vugmeister918 That carbonized wood looks harder...It is striking! Is the whole rock silicified? Marcasite or Pyrite but as neither have been noted from the Cedar R. area, it could be either sulphide until identified. Putting it in with other sulphides in a cabinet collection may not be prudent until you make sure it doesn't 'rot' and exude gases which might affect other crystallized minerals. Good job 👍
Cascade Crest Adventures The only piece that wasn’t totally silicified was the big log at 2:42, which I haven’t cut open yet. I suspect that these where washed out of the Tukwila formation that comprise Swauk and Tiger mountains. Many leaf fossils of the Eocene can be found there. Thank you for the advise on displaying this. I like watching your videos on crystal collecting, it’s challenging for me to figure out where you’re getting them. But if I were to guess, I’d say in the vicinity of The Condor/Hemlock/Porter zone 😉. Thanx again for the advise! I’m anxiously awaiting your next crystal collecting adventure!
@@vugmeister918 Those leaf imprints are very nice to find intact in/on sandstone rather than the crumbly shales. Good job there! They can be hard to find in situ let alone in float. Looking for the contacts between layers where hardrock occurs might disclose items more interesting than not. The contacts allow conduits for increased silicification. (But I bet you have read something like that by this point in your research.) The magmatic upwellings of the inland sea volcanoes covered swamps and trees; where hitting the salt water, making zeolites; where becoming vesicular, filling with enriched silica gel making the beautiful carnelians we enjoy. But then there were the crystals...and Condor Was one of those places portrayed...before it lapsed to wilderness.
