What I like it's John Fogerty version is a single artist one,and he did the song he wrote his own way.And what I like about Status Quo version,it's that is a band version,with two guitarists taking the lead solos,one basic C Berry stuff and Francis with his melodic style,both catchy.
Somewhat an irony: there is no more an American icon than John Fogerty - and his song has become the signature song of Status Quo - the most imaginable British group ever. I absolutely love both
An interviewer said to Francis Rossi that most people consider Rockin' All Over the World their favorite Status Quo song. It was a somewhat dubious honor, because of course he would've liked them to choose one that was written by him and / or another Quo member. But props to them for turning it into a world hit and making it "John Fogerty's pension plan", as a Quo member called it.
