Hi, I know this is a random question, but the back support you are wearing. Can you please tell me what they are called and where I can get one. Thank-you.
at 4:16 on the upper left the fiberglass composition is seen and it is not wooven but MAT incoherent fibers. Not a very great choice for a costly high end kayak.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. This is the standard layup. If you choose premiere construction materials are different. In my opinion it is not a matter of better and worse but you get different benefits. This "old-style" layup is very durable, when it breaks it breaks in a way that is easy to repair and the weight penalty is not too bad for most users. Of course there is also a cost difference that reflects the amount of work that goes into each kayak, not so much material cost. The easies way to make a kayak seem more premium is to use more exclusive/hi tech materials. This does not directly translate in to a more premium product. The materials used in the standard Taran is not a misstake but a choice, and in my opinion a good one.
