What a fine video you have made. Everything very clear on camera, up close with incredible detail, and very easy to follow. Thanks. This gets a big thumbs up and a follow. Going to share this with a lot of friends.

I'd recommend referring to the Sram/RockShox service guides for your specific shock to be sure that the part you're tightening is to the correct tightness: www.sram.com/en/service Thx so much for watching and for your great feedback, I really appreciate it.

Great video! I was given a bike with this particular year (2011) Monarch RT3 shock on it (Mine says High Volume on it) and couldn't find any information on it anywhere to do a service. Can I ask what the different lever positions mean? Does Max mean "fully open" and Min mean "climb or closed"??? I can tell little difference between the different positions so the damper could be broken or needs service as well. If you have any information or links for this shock I'd really appreciate it.
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL Год назад
Thank you so much for watching and commenting 👍. The RT3 has 3-positions to control the firmness of the shock = Open, Pedal, and Lock-out.here’s a link that may help you a little more: www.worldwidecyclery.com/blogs/worldwide-cyclery-blog/rockshox-monarch-rt3-shock-rider-review I think from memory that Max is fully open, Min is the pedal setting and point the lever forward is locked. I hope this helps 🤜🤛

At 7min 35s you put o-rings. Do they correspond to those removed and cleaned, or these are new ones ? I ask the question because I do not have the same in the replacement kit. Thanks.
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for your question. I replaced all o rings and seals with new ones, smothered in Sram butter and cleaned all hardware with isopropyl before reassembling. I’d be very weary of reusing the old o rings /seals as they could rupture resulting in a exploding shock and likely expensive damage. Thanks for watching and good luck 👊✊
@zwiftfrance
@zwiftfrance 2 года назад
@@UPHILLPHILL thanks for the reply. My problem is coming from the fact I did not buy the right replacerment kit. 3 o-rings were missing in mine. Next time I will take the good one. My bad. Rgds.

Hello, I need to service my Monarch R shock, but not sure the manufacturing year, the serial number is no found on sram lookup engine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Jose. Thanks for your message. I had the same issue with this shock in the video as it was an upgrade on the bike it was fitted to. I had an approximate idea of the year it was made but couldn’t pin point it. So I ended up searching on google images for the closest match and found an identical one. This really helped me to correctly identify it and to get the correct service kit. You could also get in touch with a company called TF Tuned who are very helpful. Good luck 🤜🤜✊. www.tftuned.com

Hi. U did great video. I have question about oil. Should i use that 15w or i saw somewhere used 3w or 5w. What is your recommendation? Thx and gl
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL 3 года назад
Hey 👋. Thanks for your message and great feedback 👍. With regards to oil, personally, I’d recommend sticking to the guidelines SRAM have set as each shock has gone through rigorous testing. The correct oil will allow the correct movement to flow between chambers and maintain complete compression throughout its stroke. If you’ve any doubts or worries I’d suggest contacting a company called TFtuned who are absolute experts. Good luck dude ✊🤘

just wondering i followed this service and noticed you took the green thing off and never put it back on am I to do the same?
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL 2 года назад
That’s an amazing spot and you’re absolutely correct, however, I had some issues when filming and some of my footage was corrupted, so I can assure you that the seal did indeed get replaced onto the stanchion so you will need to do the same. Thanks so much for your question, feedback and for watching 💪😉🤙

if the rebound damper is stopped working what does need replacing?
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL Год назад
Difficult to say for sure but you could try fully opening the rebound damper and pumping the shock up to the max pressure. If this does not extend it, then it will most probably need to be stripped and serviced. Good luck 🤞 (p.s. thanks for watching 😉🤜🤛)

I have Monarch RT3 from this generation and now feel small click sound in the beginning of compression especially when I'm shaking even softly on rear suspension of my bike. The clicking feels clearly on full open position, a little bit on middle pedal position and no click on lock position. All bushings was checked and no gap there. Everything fits perfect on all joints. Have opened the shock and was made this service exactly like in the video and the shock is click again. Any ideas what to do?
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL 3 года назад
Firstly, Thanks for watching and for your question. Have you replaced all the bushings for new ones? If not, it’s quite common for them to wear and ‘click’. Also, make sure that the mounts are correctly torqued up. Other than that, it’s very difficult to say, as I’ve not come across this issue. The only other thing’s I can think of is did you use the exact/correct official service kit, oil and grease? Also, have you tried testing with out air? If not, empty the air chamber and gently cycle the shock throughout its stroke. Hope this helps 🙏🏻

Hi By the way I just did the service right now on my rockshox monarch RL I could take off the lower pivot bolt bit could not take the upper pivot bolt off There is still a red layer on the bushings so I guess I don't replace it When I put the bolt back do you know if I need to grease it? If so what grease? When I put it back in the bike do I put grease on the bearings? They are sealed and j think press fit and rotate smoothly? Or do I add no grease to anything and just screw it in back dry
@UPHILLPHILL
@UPHILLPHILL 3 года назад
@@shamsta21 hi, thanks for your message. With regards to the bolts, I add a small amount of thread lock but no grease. As for your bearings, I regularly service my sealed cartridge bearings by very gently/carefully prising the seals out with a knife, fully cleaning the bearings with brake cleaner/isopropyl allow to dry and repack with a quality bearing specific grease. Do this if your bearings need some TLC. Hope this helps 🙏🏻🤘
