Rocksmith 2014 heads to the PS4 and Xbox One this November, but if you don't do some research before buying, you might end up being frustrated come launch day. More info here: forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/...
MrKushinator420 I don’t think you guys ever learned from the popular freak out videos like the psycho series. This guys new content is so obviously an act. I doubt that it’s drugs, and that he’s just acting like an ass the whole time to try to get more views. Nothing lasts forever, give it time, and you’ll see him stop acting like a lunatic.
Eddie van der Walt ya but thats because his new videos are a obvious act. With his recent videos it’s become obvious he has just resorted to trolling for views.
Folks, if you're not aware, a new iteration of Rocksmith is coming out this October !! It's called Rocksmith 2014 Remastered and here's basically everything you need to know about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M88AeTEo5IQ.html
Somehow stumbled onto this video. People still watching this, this is not an issue for the PS4, whether you are using HDMI or Optical, just change the Audio Output Settings > Audio Format (Priority) to Linear PCM. I'm sure there is a similar action on the Xbox One
I have experienced a slight sound delay on my PS4, when the audio comes through the TV, but plugging headphones into the controller fixed the problem for me entirely. Just bringing this out there! Haven't tested with anything but my own headphones, but I can't see what would be the big difference, as long as you use a jack stick directly into your controller. I even have an adapter equipped on mine.
What did you think of it? As I've never played the guitar seriously before I wanted to know if someone like me (assuming you've never played it either) would really enjoy it
Pedro H. The game is pretty good. I also never played before so It really helped me learn how to play quite a lot. The only problem I found was that some of the difficulty jumps were a little too high sometimes. You could go from being really great at a part of a song then the next time being terrible. I guess my problem was that I didn't practice enough and maybe was a little overconfident with my song choices lol. I would definitely recommend this game
Funnily enough, I have it and have literally NO delay at all. And I think the delay for some is caused by the actual part of your TV/soundsystem that decodes digital signal and recreates an analog signal that you can actually hear. In that case, optical won't help in the slightest, since it's still digital signal that need to be reconverted for you to hear it. either that, or you have a 50 foot long HDMI cable.
Some of the lag may be due to your monitor/TV settings. You want it in "game mode" or some such and you want to turn off all the features that process the video to make it prettier.
It's not a big deal you just need a surround sound with optical cable surround sound is a must-have for any video setup most tvs don't have the best speakers from the factory and surtanly no kind of real bass
My tv has an spifd connection, so could i play video through hdmi, and play audio from my xbox through the spifd cable onto my tv? would that solve this issue?
True and good point - but you left out headphones. Headphones were another work around last time out which I used on both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game
Well, as a gamer, I already had a gaming headset (Astro A40) so that was my solution. I mean, it is a little annoying having to deal with wearing headphones and the cord and concentrating on the game at the same time on top me being more comfortable standing but I'm managing.
They said the same thing about the PS3 version, but I never had that issue. I just plugged the system into my blu ray player/audio receiver via HDMI and the from receiver into TV with another HDMI.
This problem occurs for some but not all. It all depends on what hardware they are using and what settings they have. I don't have any latency problems and I use wireless headphones. I can easily spend $25.00 for the Fiio D3 which also includes the optical cable but, it's not needed. This is just what they recommend for those that actually experience problems.
Optical cables aren't too pricey if for some reason you don't have already have one. Good info for people without a receiver to know though. Rocksmith was the only game keeping my ps3 hooked up, personally glad its available on next gen now. Improved graphics don't really matter with this game, 1080p blocks on a fretboard... $60 is worth less clutter around the TV and the convenience of not firing up a separate console for me though.
why I didnt see this vid befoooore, damn, I just bought rocksmith 2014 for ps4, 100usd the piece of shit,, and now, if I keep this damn game,, I need to buy the the optical audio cable and a damn receiver,, I mean,, shiiiit,, Im gonna sell the game tomorrow in 80usd I hope, shit, PEOPLE LISTEN TO THIS GUY,, HE IS RIGHT
Did you try it out on the PS4? I was gonna buy this game until I saw this. I don't have a receiver or anything like that. I just hook straight into the TV. I am not gonna go buy a receiver or anything just to play this
Jeremy A I'd suggest you try it out via hdmi first. The original rocksmith was pretty much unplayable until i hooked the analog audio from the ps3 up to my tv. I never tried Rocksmith 2014 without that setup on the ps3. I just got the ps4 version, fired it up expecting lag and ready to go out and get an optical audio cable, but much to my surprise on my tv (samsung) there is no lag at all with just hdmi on the ps4. It might not be the same for you, but it's definately worth a try. Also, you may want to check the back of your tv. Mine has analog and optical inputs and can be set up to use those for audio on the hdmi channels, so you might not even need a seperate receiver.
Roger Danse Oh so your TV has optical IN? Mine has optical OUT but that is all. I'm guessing your Samsung is probably newer than mine. I was hoping there would be an optical IN on my TV so I could just grab a optical cable and run it from the PS4 to the TV but like I said my TV just has optical OUT.
Jeremy A yeah, I tried it and I did experienece some lag,, and Im not gonna buy another extra cable nor a reciever,, the damn game is expensive already, so it doesnt worth it bro,, Im gonna sell it
Adrian Rose That is pretty damn annoying, was looking forward to playing this. What is the cheapest way to go about getting around this? Like I said not buying headphones or sound system.
Get an Xbox 360 just for playing Rocksmith. Lots of second hand ones around. Use the analogue audio to connect to a stereo amp or directly to your TV sound bar.
Thanks. I am a big Rocksmith fan. I have the latency issue covered with analog cable (PS3). I would suck big donkey balls to get a next gen console and not be able to use it.
For the xbox ones without optical out - use a hdmi audio splitter its pretty cheap like £6 10 $ you put your hdmi cable in and you get a 3.5mm audio out and hdmi out and it works for me fine no audio lag!
Is really lagging/high latency issue on ps4 version so bad ? I have both edition of rocksmith for ps3 and I ´m using hdmi for video and audio and I ´ ve never noticed this issue.
I have this on ps3 and the 360 - the slightest lag ruins the experience. Even with the converters etc it was still there enough to throw me off. I learned more by just continuing to use tabs and RU-vid as my resources. Rocksmith is good concept but executed poorly due to laggy experience. They have a big challenge ahead to get rid of that lag going from analog to digital.
I just got this game for my PS4, I also ordered an optical cable since i watched this video before I the order it from Amazon. but it turn out no latency issue at all, works perfect. I connected my PS4 to my receiver via HDMI and receiver to TV also via HDMI. not sure if connecting PS4 directly to TV will have issue or not.
Everything this guy say is right but if you love guitar and games you couldn't find anything better than Rocksmith (well actually I don't know anything else like Rocksmith)! For a PS4, You can fix your audio if you buy an optical Toslink cable for audio, and connect it to an output with the same optical interface, but if you don,t have one, you can use an usb headphones, I have my old PS3 Headphones from sony and works really god (the experience with this is awesome since the headphones isolates all environment noise and dives you into the song) and I think another kind of usb headphones should be work, but if you don't have one you can use your simple 3.5 headphones from your cellphone (I used a lenovo handsfree headphones from my smartphone) or a cable to connect to analog output. The problem is from the console, because it doesn't have analog ouput, not from the game, and the hdmi is not enough faster to process the audio, so give it a try before get frustrated, I'm and very old guitarist (well not too old just 37 but I started at my 13 years) and I leave the guitar for about 13 years ago and I started to play the game and believe me, I recovered my skills using this game, (and believe mi it was really faster than any other intent in the past) I plenty recommend it even in the PS4, and I have also a PS3 and in both consoles it runs and hears really well... I'm a really addict to this game!
So, I'm assuming this problem would mostly have an effect on normal 60hz LCD's, rather than 120hz LED/LCD, and Plasma (which I am using). I do have a receiver with optical, and a spare optical cable, but that would be a hassle to setup every time I want to play. Why would they release a freaking game, if they knew it would not work, out of the box, on the majority of TV's out there?
Now we know it's not just visual upgrade. Also, if you have a gaming head set with USB adapter - you should be fine. No optical cable & amp/adapter needed.
I got my ps4 into a reciever but, is there also a delay? Maby i just download the game on the laptop en put it on mono speakers i think that is the best way
damn... I got so freaking excited 'bout this game, you have no idea. I just came here on YT searching if the game was available for PS4, and gosh.... I'm so glad for have found you before anything... (sorry for my bad English, BTW) needless to say... thanks, but, it's worthy to buy Rocksmith for PS3??
WOW this guys was so right!!! I have been playing piano for 10 years and I am very good with understanding a tempo! I bought rocksmith 2014 for my x box one, And I really cant stress this enough!!!! there was a crazy latency throughout all of the game play! Its just like any other product! they just want to make there money!!!! do not buy warning you will be hurting yourself in the long run!!!!!
Anyone with this problem just snag a cheap soundbar with optical input. They're great for movies and rocksmith sounds great through one. *Playing RS 2014 with a Schecter C 1 frs platinum*
Does anyone know this problem still going on with the PS4 version of the game because I'm planning on getting it to learn how to play electric guitar and I would like to know just ahead of time
I have my ps4 plugged into a dell monitor and use the audio jack on the controller to connect my headphones, I reckon the laggy experience could hit me as the controller is connected via bluetooth to the console and I'm not too sure about the radio bandwidth it has. Anybody has some info regarding this? I'd rather not have optical out connected into a set of speakers or anything in my setup.
If you have the first game, you can use the cable that came with that. But if you didn't get the first one, no worries cause this guy is making it seem way more complicated that it actually is.
So it's like 3 months later since i got this on release day. i got this for PS4, i use HDMI for both audio and video. I can tell you without a doubt that an audio cable or any other nonsense is not needed, there was a latency issue when the game first came out that made it pretty much unplayable, but a few updates later and i personally have no latency issues. I can also say i'm pretty good at the game, most of the songs i like to play are at, above or close to 100%. If you have this for PS3 or xbox 360 you won't gain anything from upgrading (maybe slightly better sound and HD graphics) For anyone who is wondering, you can use the same guitar lead on all consoles, so if you upgrade from xbox 360 to PS4 you can take the lead with you. You can only stream session mode and guitarcade games, you can't stream or record actual song gameplay due to copyright issues bla bla bla
Even with the optical to analog adapter to my Lg soundbars auxiliary port I still get unplayable lag. It's even worse optical directly to the soundbar no idea how it performs with a receiver. on xbox one x fender roadhouse deluxe and schecter omen 6 with emg 81tw 89r pickups.
I have never played the game. Stereo receivers with HDMI passthrough are becoming more and more popular. I'm sure that any aftermarket audio system manufactured these days will be able to play the music in a strong high clarity. I agree music on a flat screen TV sucks but you pretty much need at least the sound bar with them anyways.
its not a problem with the game, the problem is with the way hdmi works with certain tv's. some tv will have no problem and some will have latency. all you need is a $20 optical out converter and a cable and you are set
what the hell you talking abut?i have hdmi-xbox one and there isnt anything wrong.i know 5 people that have ps4/xbox one hdmi rocksmith and they have no issues
Im an experienced 18 year guitar player. I bought it because im in my studio all day and this is great to get my chops up and teach my gf to play so we can both interact. Im using a optical to a stereo and its fine. Just turn on optical on ps4 and set it to linear pcm with dts and dolby turned off and their are no issues. Im guessing some poor av recievers have issues. But really how many people are using tv sound and not a sound bar or stereo system if they can buy a 700 flat screen? If you cant on ps4 you can always use the analog headphone jack for headphones or diy it and buy a 1/8 to rca and run it from the controller into an older reciever. Your not using the controller anyway. I see people coming into my work spending 500+ on a ps4 setup but bringing them back because their tv has no hdmi and doesnt do component lol. Really?
Even with a receiver and optical out the problem isn't always solved. It all depends on your TV and receiver and how fast they process the audio and visual info. Why oh why didn't they just have a lag adjuster in the game like guitar hero. If your starting from square one trying to use rocksmith to learn you stand no chance. Also its interesting that on Rocksmith for ps3 they don't even recommend using digital optical out and encourage users to use analogue. Please sort this out rocksmith.
