The first mission with Lester has a segment where the programmer tells you that their product is already feature complete so they'll have to start cutting features to maintain profits as a dig at the tech industry at the time. Now Rockstar has fallen into the trap they mocked

Dan Houser, the mastermind and writer behind most of the games we know and love left the company to start a new gaming company called "Absurd Ventures". Imagine that, the person who stood at the helm of Rockstar literally got bullied and strongarmed out of the company by Taketwo. Doesn't bode well for future games in my opinion. Rdr2 was probably Rockstars peak and it'll never be topped. I hope Dan Housers company goes out and starts releasing some of the craziest games ever and gives rockstar a run for their money.

The fact that Dan Houser left in 2019 due to creative differences should have always been a sign to fans. That’s a huge red flag since he cofounded the company with his brother. It had to have been a bad situation. A founder of a company doesn’t just leave after 20 years unless something is bad wrong. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he disagreed with the direction GTA has gone.

When GTAV for the PS4 first released, returning players got a free armoured car (in story and online), and a rail gun (in story mode), now returning players for PS5 get a new micro-transaction.

I don't have a lot of hope for GTA 6 i'll be honest. Simply because this isn't the rockstar we fell for and the main people that made Gta what it is, have already left rockstar. Including dan hauser, who is the co-founder. Imagine how bad the conditions were made for R* by take two that a co-founder had to leave. Its very hard to do that to a company you built with blood sweat and tears.

The thing I fear the most about this is the possibility of GTA VI Online being a subscription only service. Knowing Rockstar it's more likely to happen than we want.

I was there, at the beginning in 2013, when GTA Online first released. It was such a magical time, where I have been through the highs and lows of the game's history. I was there at the rooftop rumble grind, the moment I earned enough money to buy an apartment at Eclipse Towers, my first car being the BF Bifta buggy, and even the first series of heists as I rode in armored karumas the whole way through. I dedicated 8 years of my life to this game, all the way up to grinding my way through Cayo Perico to amass over 200 million dollars in wealth. I have everything I could ever want. An office, a yacht, the Kosatka, all of those weaponized vehicles, my facility, arcade, and even the Oppressor MK 2. I've gone through so many races, survivals, deathmatches, heists, and even the pedestrian activities like Tennis and Golf and Parachuting. And I am not above admitting that I abused the Orbital Canon and the Lester Airport glitches because I was sick of always struggling with a few million dollars at a time. My mother often said that I loved this game because I've played it so much...although, it's more akin to Stockholm Syndrome. The awful and unbalanced economy has been a sobering realization for the better part of 5 or 6 years now, ever since Import/Export released. Everything is overpriced, everything is out of reach, and there is no consistency with anything between new and ancient updates. And now? We're on Grand Theft Auto 5's THIRD Playstation console, FOURTH re-release, and these issues have been all but outright ignored. Many quality of life changes that needed to have been made years ago have still gone unaddressed, and those lazy bastards only stagger out large and meaningful updates by several months. Two Updates every year whilst having made billions of dollars, enjoying the title as one of the most profitable video games in history. What doesn't help is that they've been cannibalizing on old content because they haven't done anything to expand the same old island that we've been stuck on for the last 8 years. Cayo Perico was drummed up as one such change, even though it is really just a separate area akin to North Yankton, another popular suggestion as a new location to visit. And they have the nerve to inject a premium membership subscription to this 8 year old game? And we get what, some paintjobs? Yet another T-shirt with a .PNG slapped on it? 500K a month, which you could easily surpass in an hour of Cayo Perico? A free yacht that has no purpose outside of bragging rights? This is why we don't have GTA 6. FUCK ROCKSTAR. Thank god I stopped playing months ago.

I disagree with one thing - you say you’re “sure GTA 6 will be a fantastic single player game” because of GTA 5 and RDR 2. Different company - Rockstar is not that company anymore, the developers that made those games are mostly gone, and the world that existed when those games were being developed is gone. And please don’t give Strauss Zelnick any credit for the Rockstar legacy - because he is responsible for burying that legacy. RDR 2 was Rockstar’s goodbye, and they didn’t create a character named ‘Mr. Strauss’ for no reason - a character that directly leads to the hero’s painful death by using him as a tool to rob everyday people out of every last nickel they have. Dan Houser wrote the story of the company in that game.

Rockstar has become exactly the kind of company that appears in their games.

I've seen a lot of companies fall from grace over the years. But Rockstar selling out and becoming the exact thing they have mocked for years? It's honestly really sad. We are truly living in dark times for gaming.

What really annoys me is that even if all of us watching this agree with this, there's like millions of people that will happily pay the $6 charge and Rockstar makes hundreds of millions and the practice never ends.

The depressing part is when you go to see the announcement. There's a lot of people upset about this sure, and yet, there's almost as many telling those people to "Just don't play" or taunting the upset people how, quote, "booo hooo it's not GTA6". Like, it's not so much the playing, or it not being GTA6, it's the fact that the game is a decade old, trying to throw in a subscription model that's giving practically no bonus to their inflated in game economy. And with their mega fans willing to throw in the money, Rockstar won't learn anything from this, and more game companys will learn the wrong thing from it instead.

You can also run the bogdan problem with a friend and take turns giving each other a million and the host quits out when the cutscene starts. It takes about 10-15 minutes to do the mission so both of you can get around 2 million an hour

I'd like to remind everyone that Rockstar used to make ( in my opinion ) the best dlc's for their games, for me no one else really came close to their level. I miss GTA dlc...... i was heartbroken when i realised because of online we would never see a gta dlc again.

These AAA brands are all driving straight off a cliff and I love it. Make way for the great new IP's, and passionate devs. Let these lazy publishers reliant on brand recognition to siphon money off of those blinded by nostalgia or a low IQ keep embarrassing themselves. R*, Nintendo, EA, Square, Ubisoft, etc. Dinosaurs of a dying age already being cannibalized by titans of the current era like FromSoft, Supergiant, and Arksys. Gotta be honest, this is gonna make money no matter what. But as someone who’s played the game for years and has everything in the game, I’m not buying this, and I’d recommend boycotting it, but that won’t happen.

FF12 is so underrated. You never hear FF fans talk about it, but it's such a great game. Also, how are people excited for GTA 6 after seeing the cesspool that R* Games has morphed into? The soul of the company left after RDR2 was finished. So many of the devs that were critical to what R* was, has now moved on. I wouldn't be surprised if 6 is completely unrecognizable from the rest of the franchise. No more offensive humor, or it will tasteless cliche'd main stream narrative trash. Guaranteed.

I've said it before I'll say it again. Rockstar is fully aware that they have majority of their community fully wrapped around their finger.

I think the more egregious factor in all of this is that people will STILL pay for this. It doesn't matter how outraged everyone is because Rockstar will still be making bank off of it and that's really all that matters to them. They wouldn't even consider this otherwise.

I remember reading recently about how, when making Grand Theft Auto III in 2000, Rockstar had the specific demand to refrain from using the abbreviation "GTA" in any of the titles/artwork, ect; with the desire to stick to the soul of what the game was to be. 20 years later, we now see Rockstar going against that value. This was my ultimate sign that the company has finally reached it's death.

I love how the 3x bonus doesn't apply to everything...only a few specific races. I honestly don't know any other game that gives a mulitplier through a subscription that doesn't apply it to everything. That's awful.

For a while after GTA online released, all new content; weapons, vehicles and costumes (I think, not sure on that last one) came to both online and single player. After a certain update, they separated them into online and offline, so guns and cars that were available in online mode weren't available in offline mode. I stopped playing shortly after that. I'm mostly a single player kind of guy. I tried the online mode and hated it. From what I remember, if you weren't playing with a group, to enter particular missions required a certain amount of people in the same lobby to choose that mission at the allotted time. I never got to try most of the missions because everybody was grinding the same handful of missions over and over again. Also, when just travelling around the map, groups or individuals who had been playing for longer and had access to more powerful weapons would just hunt down low ranked players and kill them over and over again. Maybe it's fun if you have a group of online friends or just enjoy killing the guy that can't even afford ammo to defend himself over and over, but it just held no appeal for me whatsoever. I remember how hyped everybody was about GTA online, but I was worried because I suspected it would detract from the single player (which is what made me a fan of the franchise in the first place). I had no idea we'd be playing the same game across three console generations (two in my case because I'm not paying for it again). I'm pretty angry about it because it felt like an invasion. My thinking at the time was: "There are plenty of online games for people to play, why do they have to mess with the thing I love?". Yes, I realise it's not mine and obviously it's been extremely lucrative for R*, but it doesn't take away from the fact that I've not had a new GTA to play in almost a decade because all focus has been shifted to GTA online and the monetisation opportunities it presents.

One day I'll be a grandpa telling my grandson back in my day companies had to actually provide us with an entire game full of things before we gave them money. Then I'll have to watch him all confused on how a game can just have stuff in it you get by buying it and not that you have to buy a game to buy it's features.

I honestly just play this game for the cars, and car community. The "story" and content does excite me when its actually new, not some remade asset.

I used to love GTA Online, then I ran out of story missions to play with my brother and it all became the exact same repetitive "business" missions. Steal or buy supplies, generate product, sell at long or short distance. If you're a gun runner, you do exactly that. If you're a car seller, you do exactly that (but you lose income based on how damaged the car gets). Bikers had the exact same gameplay. More importantly, I had absolutely no reasons to want to keep playing, why was I doing any of that bullshit? To make money so that I could buy upgrades so that I could keep making money so that I could buy more upgrades? What's the point? Red dead online was also amazing, and I loved that there were cutscenes with both our characters, but after we finished the story quests... what was there to do? They introduced merchants... exactly the fucking same as GTA Online (buy or steal product, create sellable product, sell it at long or short distance). The problem is that all those 'professions' should've been base game. If they had, for example, a story quest that you could only take after you've taken down a special bounty which only unlocks after you've become bounty hunter lvl 5, THEN I'd have an actual reason to play those professions. If GTA Online had any story missions which I could only keep playing if I ever got a bunker to a certain stage or something, THEN I'd have an actual reason to keep playing it. But it's all pointless and meaningless. And don't get me started with those fucking flying bikes. GTA tried to be saints row so bad in that one.

The one thing I am always thinking about is how the voice actors feel about these kinds of politics and practices. We all know they're absolutely not the ones to blame and I'm not saying that, however, I think it feels sad for them to be a part of such a mercenary product of a company that initially focused on making a great experience in games and now all they're doing is basically putting an automatic greed system inside the game so you can get half a dozen features that everyone has since Online's day 1. This is insane. And to think we'll never be able to boycott one's services as people will be blinded by something I can't figure out what it might be and they'll even get excited about it.

Sadly Rockstars knows exactly what they are doing, like many other game companies. It's very sad.

Modern Grand Theft Auto has two opposing identities: 1. Single-player GTA, which relentlessly parodies the excesses of capitalism. 2. GTA Online, which practically worships the excesses of capitalism and uses it to form the basis of a knowingly exploitative business model.

I have been warning about Rockstar’s BS since early 2020…when Dan Houser quit and no one took me seriously! I knew Rockstar wasn’t going to be able to actually Expand and Enhance GTA Online in 18 months. It took over 4 years to develop! Then I said how “E&E” was a last second thought…a coverup to the fact that there was no GTA 6 (which Sony fully expected to be ready for the PS5 launch). Why else the free monthly $1 million for every PS Plus member! They released the Trilogy unfinished…knowing a lot would preorder the games…and took your money and ran! The. They put “E&E” behind a 9th gen paywall…abandoning millions of 8th gen console players…in the middle of a massive semiconductor shortage! And now GTA+? It’s tile we the GTA Community come together and stop playing GTA and RDR! No more money to Rockstar until we get what we want…GTA Online to be fair for ALL and then GTA 6!!! It’s time to BOYCOTT ROCKSTAR!!!
