You forget a thousand things everyday pal, and one of them was the beta version of the Rhino from GTA III. That one was even more of an Armored personnel carrier though looking more like a Condor or like the APC in GTA Online.
You can compare the chassis and turret of the leopard 2a4 with the gta 5 rhino, its clearly based on it. Specially the tools compartment on the back of the turret, just like in the ww2 Panzer 3/4 and TIGER h1 edit: wrong game
the only strange thing with it is the fact that the driver seat seems to be part of the track cover. look when the character gets in, he would be sitting on the tracks lmfao
yeah the San Andreas Rhino had wheels because making tracks work in game engines of the day proved a difficult task. But something I find neat is that the BT Tanks could run on the road wheels, and I'm curious if the British Tetrarch could do the same.
The one from GTA III is based of the predator tank from 40K which is basically just a turret on top of the RHINO APC so the original naming makes sense.
I'm pretty sure the Rhino in 3 and VC had doors and 4 tires because of technical limitations. I can't remember exactly but I suppose it was easier to botch together by making it a regular "car" with normal doors instead of making the character climb in and/or making it control like a tank
I’ve seen that Abrams before it’s at the American Heritage Museum in Hudson Massachusetts I seen all the tanks there they have German, Russian and American Tanks they also had a few war planes as well I loved the Tour
its easy to see why they misidentified it as the body is shorter resembling more of a patton with the turret being larger and commanders cupola of it looking like the cupola on the patton/m60 series
Haven't been to ur channel in a while, due to getting distracted, but I come back to this new series, and it's some great stuff, I'm not sure you'd be interested, but I'd be curious on your thoughts about the practicality of the E551 Titan from Earth Defence Force 4.1 and 5 Hope you have a good day
Many vehicles in GTA series games, especially GTA 5 are combinations of irl vehicles. I’m curious if this is another example. . Maybe M1Abrams+ Leopard 2 ?
I suspect that the reason of no Rhino on GTA IV are actually 2: 1: Enviromental limitation, Liberty City is quite packed up in general terms except some exceptions, if the streets aren't quite tight, there's too much traffic generated which leads into the actual problem, too much collisions. Added to GTA IV car damage model which is WAY more detailed than in GTA IV leads us to the 2nd reason. 2: Physic engine limitations, The Euphoria Engine was first used on GTA IV, and it leaded into driving physics and deformation models unseen in GTA if not any other game by that time (specially the second ones), although that had quite a price to pay in exchange. There are already in the original "non-patched" game (as for those who downloaded the expansions got them corrected) zones with physical glitches, like that infamous swing near the flat of the beginning of the game in which, if you push any vehicle towards it, it will send you flying. That's just a small zone but, just imagine what kind of problems a vehicle like the Rhino on GTA V is could cause in the hands of the usual GTA player. Starting with the fact that in V the Rhino doesn't pass over the vehicles crushing them like surely IV physics would try to recreate but, instead, it pushes them ahead like any other regular vehicle like the older, IFV-like Rhino's of previous GTA of past gens do. TLDR: They didn't implemented the Rhino on newer GTA's until they solved problems related to it, being that solution to came back to old methods.
@@guardiadecivil6777 That's true as well. However the so called NOOSE (never understood that name at all) have armored copters to grab, if their installations allowed it we could even have any armored vehicle despite not being the Rhino, yet they aren't there and, probably, due to the same reasons i mentioned in the prior comment.
Hey Coneofarc, can you also make a video about the Khanjali tank from GTA Online and other military vehicles? (Also, really enjoy watching your vids:))
I'm sure it has tires in san andreas, because they just used the asset they allready have. I think they definetely could have done more, but it was not worth the effort
The China Town tank you claim has no real world resemblance, I would even argue IS based on the M4 Sherman tank. It even has the GI star logo on it lol
Nah, I think Rockstar most likely is aware of the TTD. Alot of video games have south african or south african inspired military vehicles for fictional settings. Arma III is a big example
The GTA 1 tank would more then likely be a narco tank, custom made by cartels, it would make sense in the gta story to make it look like that due to all the drug stuff and crime going on
I've been making vehicle modifications for GTA SA for a few years now and yes, the reason we don't have any tracked vehicle in the game (with the exception of one little RC toy tank) is due to RenderWare's limitations with animating the tracks itself.
That's kind of a stupid reason because think about it you can just not have an animation on the track period and just cover it up as much as you can with track skirts so its not very noticeable i remember a lot of early video games did that instead of animating the tracks, personally I think they just wanted to make the tank look goffey as fuck
@@swiftspooner66 That's a good idea for modders but it's a pointless amount of work for the base game. Especially since the tank is rarely used. And it's not like tanks with tires are completely fictional, They do exist IRL for driving on concrete.
A video about the numerous variants of the Abrams tank in the gaming world would be nice. One example that stuck in my mind is the Thermobaric tank in Prototype.
@@gabrielpalileo3294 The Abrams was one tank they were based on - after all, the Medium Tank in Tib Dawn and RA1 was the Abrams. And in a GTA5 Rhino twist, the other tank is the Leopard - the Crusader's model filename is even AV_Leopard, apparently.
The Rhino's (GTA V/GTA Online) "tracks", are only a texture. The game don't have proper tracks mechanic, all vehicles with tracked suspension, works just like wheeled machines.
As I got into tanks it became a pet peeve of mine that the rhino is hard to kill with an RPG even from the side knowing damn well the side armor is probably around 35-50mm thick (as most modern tanks do) and it doesn't have ERA so shaped charges like the RPG in game would go through it.
I remember pointing the gun backwards and using the recoil to turn the tank into the fastest vehicle in the game in the 3/VC rendition. A little harder to get working in SA thanks to the turret being fixed to the camera better and therefore meaning you can't quite see where you're going... but you sure as hell know where you've been.
I remember in the 3D universe the Rhino was never fast enough to fly with the flying vehicles cheat, but using the recoil it could become one of the fastest.
In VC go "comeflywithme" and "seaways" then turn the turret to the rear then fire. you get a tank flying faster than the apache (the only military flying vehicle in the game). Don't forget the gravity cheat.
On San Andreas, after turning the turret 180º to get the boost shots, switch to first person view mode (the one that strick the camera to the front of the vehicle, like, really on front) In this mode the turret will not turn back since it asumes the main camera (mouse) is still aiming backwads. You would loose some field of view and panning, and since the camera being closer to ground level, also some depth. But at least now you can see ahead
I grew up playing GTA3 and the Rhino and fire truck rampages were the best. Rhino was obviously extremely limited in capabilities with it being really slow and having the inability to elevate the gun. The fire truck was usually a much better option due to its ease of access and better speed with the water cannon being more hilarious of a weapon.
