8:46 Bebop and Rocksteady’s reactions to getting mutated into a warthog and rhino is a big reason why I love the 2012 series. When they show a character getting mutated, they really take it seriously and have you savor the moments where they start to lose their humanity. I don’t believe the 80s cartoon had that sense of tragedy when you see anyone or anything touch mutagen.
Bebop and Rocksteady’s 2012 series portrayal is my most favorite of all! I absolutely love how they were just naturally introduced as side characters in human form, and when they finally do get mutated, you really empathize with them.
Everyone loved their action figure versions way more than the cartoon characters. As a kid growing up in the late 80's/90's (Born in 82), my turtle villains spent more time assaulting my GI Joe bases than getting embarrassed by my Turtles.
I remember TMNT from when I was little, although I liked it, He-man and Thundercats dominate my memories. As bad guys go, they are just as iconic as Shredder himself.
I love the 1987 cartoon. The story displayed in that show is canon to me. Rocksteady, Bebob and Baxter Stockman are just as important as Schredder, Krang, April O Neil to me.
There was also a Dexter Stockman in a single episode of the old Ninja TURTLES series. How was that again, neither related nor related by marriage!? 🤔 Or was that "Barney"?!? 🎭 This episode I seem to remember was called : House of Ha Ha. (Better I make sure again because of my statement)
The teenage mutant Ninja TURTLES pinball table was still my favorite game as I was a little boy at the early 90's. I couldn't get enough of this game at this time. 😎
By not titling this video with Bebop's name coming before Rocksteady's (as it is whenever the two are commonly referenced together) you have incurred the wrath of my obsessive compulsive annoyance and I lay a proclamation to pursue righteous vengeance upon you and your lineage for all time.
As much as I like bebop and rocksteady they’re not my favorite Hench mutants My favorite Hench mutant who serve shredder like bebop and rocksteady are fishface and dogpound for the 2012 show they’re just entertaining while they’re not dumb like The shredders old Hench mutant they are still a joy to watch
I wish they would say it LIKE IT IS. Garry Williams is a small part actor who has been on every god damn show in some capacity or another. There's no diversity in any of his roles and is often just a token. I will never forget his character of Clarence Thomas on Boston Legal. Concept was sound, but you had this 1 trick buffoon playing it. I got zero out of Bepop in the film and that's for the best. CGI turtles/characters are worse than the grime on the streets of the 1989 release which is world beyond better than this crapola.
It sucks how the creators dont like bebop and rocksteady for being too ridiculous, while all the fans want is a more serious and dangerous bebop and rocksteady
Whenever I played with my Bebop and Rocksteady figures they were a powerful duo against the turtles. Even as a kid I hated bumbling characters, it completely shatters the action element.
Same. I often made them drug kingpins. I mean they split from the foot they should be leading their own gang. So set them up with Baxter stockman. They keep shredder away from Baxter while separating the youth that shredder had grabbed for his new foot clan. I liked the idea of shredder bringing in disenfranchised youth but I wanted it to be more like him using them to get the layout and slowly take NYC underground. I don't mind them being clumsy though. I mean they just became hybrid animal people. So doors guns and a lot of things they would need an adjustment period to work with and stockman was the only one capable of adjusting things for them.
@@Ando1428 - oh man you went hardcore....lol. A little slapstick is ok but it should never overwhelm the character and make them useless like in the show.. You had a whole network of good stories
@@1980Triumph agreed. I had broke some of my toys back then. They ones I couldn't fix would be wounded warriors. So Donnie lost his arm due to my dog biting it and raph lost half the coloring on him cause I lost him outside. So he weathered out some of his shell and parts of his face. I tried to repaint them but I never had the right shades. So raph got hurt from a laser from the technodrone and Donnie lost his arm to shredder.
@@Ando1428 - dang bro you give the term "playing hard" a whole new meaning....LOL. I love the creative spark with play, I love hearing these kinds of stories.
My favourite version of these characters are in the IDW comics. That comic made them into legitimate threats while still making them hilariously simpleminded.
Same. That first serious battle against both the tmnt AND the mutanimals was epic. All the other evil mutants had fallen on their first attempt to attack the turtles, but R&B standing up over and over and over was a delight to see- especially cause it stablished how superior they where in front of all of them in both strength and stamina. And the best part was that they didn’t even lose. A building was thrown on their heads and everyone just retreated moments before THEY STOOD BACK UP. Though dumb villains done right.
hoping one day for a more dark version tv series of the tmnt universe and seeing bebop and rocksteady with the chainsaw and hammer. also seeing more then just 2 mutants on shredder side. can you imagine a series with bebop rocksteady tokka razar. in the comics there is even a hammerheadsharkman and eaglewoman. i would love more mutant villains for the show and shredder slowly getting a big mutant army. and the turles having leatherhead and slash and maybe some other new editions on their team for one big super monster brawl
@@Dracattack ooh yeah forgot about that one and it did grow darker near the end seasons. But i'm thinking more like the 2003 series. The foot elite and mistics were also badass there
The Last Ronin is the darkest tmnt comics. Unfortunately only 5 issues, and all but 1 turtle is dead, as well as shredder and his gang. Still a great story
I will admit, in some appearances they are more fun then the turtles. 2013 I find them better then the turtles and that is a hard thing to say. We need more of these 2
Even as a kid, I hated how they made them dumb in the old cartoon. They should have been frightening! Still loved them but there were some stuff I never got answered: -why Rocksteady only used the helmet on that episode? -they carry grenades all the time, but they never use them against the turtles! -Rocksteady carry a wooden sword on his back, maybe used once or twice only… - it’s revealed shredder made the other gang members mutants too, but you never see them except for some seconds cameo and that one gang member that got turned back into human to demonstrate that anti mutagen pistol. -if the gang members were all fusion between a human and a animal, why when that gang member got “demutated”, only the human form appeared? What happened with the animal counterpart? - why shredder never used the rest of the mutated gang members?
Perhaps one can only ask Baxter Stockman what he found under his eye in the intergalactic ooze and made excellent diagnostic decisions. Otherwise, I find this question very interesting 🎭 A contentious issue which was not shown in the film. 👍🏻
Retitle video as "Bebop & Rocksteady." It's not Hardy & Laurel, Costello & Abbott, or Robin & Batman is it? Please introduce one of the GREATEST dynamic duos of all time in the proper fashion/order. Bebop 1st, Rock 2nd. I waited a LONG time to see them in TMNT: Out of the Shadows. They are THE reason to see that movie. They absolutely steal the show and DESERVE every moment of screen time they get. "Bringing back the 'hawk. Good for you." "Oh you got jokes huh? Well let's see how funny you are when we bash your skulls in!!" I just needed a sledge hammer and a gold plated chainsaw and life would have been complete..."My man" 🤜🤛"My man"
They were always my favorite villians. You knew they were gonna mess things up. The only question is how. It makes you wonder why shredder used two idiots to make them. It both does and does not make sense. They would be twice as effective if they had half a brain between them. But if you are going to make super strong mutants you kind of do want them dumb enough to control and go along with your hair brained schemes. If they were smart enough to see that they are beind screwed they would just go off and be their own villans instead of someone elses stooge.
Then I'll better quote the Shredder. Perhaps muscles can achieve something where intelligence has failed. And that's where the 2 dumb cheeks come into play. 💪🏻🦏💪🏾🐗☮️😉
My understanding on why Shredder doesn't replace them (sans the one episode they had enough and replaced them with robots) is that more intelligent mutants would realise how stupid Krang and Shredders operation is and either rebel or take over it, as seen with characters like the Punk Frogs, Dirtbag and Grounchuck, and the 2012 Rocksteady and Bepop
@@IdentityCrisis1581 there was a episode as Rocksteady and Bebop are Ninjas for a short time. I mean, that was funnier than with the monkey Reporter at the end of this episode. 😉
@@beboprocksteadym0nster-pow443 I vaguely remember an episode where they went off on their own. But I haven't watched the show since I was in elementary school. So the memory is fuzzy.
As someone who grew up watching the '87 show, loved the (first two) live action films, and appreciated the early 2003 reboot, I never even saw footage of the 2012 show until now. Making Bebop skinny is one of the dumbest looking things I've ever seen.
*these two need their own open world video game similar to GTA where you can just commit all sorts of crimes and customize cars, clothes, bazookas, uzi's etc.....and each encounter with a ninja turtle is like a Shadow Of Mordor conflict where if you slice Raphael's face, the next time you see him, he has the scar still visible on his face and he HATES YOU.*
Out of all the villains in Ninja Turtles, these two were completely made for the 1987 Cartoon series. Never had a comic book version until much much later.
Everyone loved tmnt back in the day. I hated how dumb they made it. Nobody was gonna die unless they were a robot. The weapons are useless in the cartoon. Same with X-Men only thing wolverine used his claws on were to shut down electronic devices
My first TMNT toy was Rocksteady. I didn't know who he was because I actually didn't watch the cartoon before that. I just wanted a ninja turtle because kids at school always talked about them and they looked cool. My parents would always get me the wrong toy that I wanted. I still liked Rocksteady especially after I watched the cartoon but I actually wanted Leonardo who I thought was Michaelangeo at the time. I wanted Michaelangelo because that was everyone's favorite.
tmnt 2012 was the best to me somehowe ... abd b and r improved majorly ... thay where real friends ... thay kinda tutched me in a way - in a way that made me jellus of thayr friendship !
You repeated yourself about 20x next time write down what you're going to say. If you did write it down and this is what you came up with quit youtube.
Laird needs to get over himself. He can't claim to want to maintain a dark aesthetic with a serious narrative when your main characters are a bunch of giant turtles being raised by a man who's been turned into a rat. That's the very definition of not-serious and leans heavily into a B-movie aesthetic where you need to suspend disbelief to enjoy the content.
If Bebop and Rocksteady were in the 2003 series I don't think Shredder would have kept them on the job like he did in the 1987 series he would probably just kill them.
I remember Secret of the Oz and seeing that Behop and Rocksteady were not in it almost killing the movie for me. I still enjoyed the movie but not as much as the Original.
Controversial opinion out of the shadows Bebop rocksteady they were awesome and I enjoyed them I watched that movie a few times just for them favorite line"my man"
