Needed a little extra bass in a small package and heard A LOT of good reviews about this little Subwoofer but I have to hear it for myself! Link to subwoofer: amzn.to/2ULO2hp
Same sub under my front passenger seat in my Forester. Great sound with upgraded kicker speakers and upgraded kenwood radio. Also put an amp on the radio..
I just finished upgrading my stock woofers with the JBL GX600C in my Yaris hatchback from 2008. I also deadened the car doors which helped a TON with the midbass. Yet, I am still missing the low end. I don't want to add an amplifier (I'm honestly a bit scared to, since it seems like a ton of work) so an active, underseat subwoofer like this seems awesome! Thanks for the video!
Update: I just installed a Alpine SWE-815 and it makes a world of difference. It's a small active subwoofer you can install in your trunk. I highly recommend it.
Great video! Found it while looking up reviews of the Rockville underseats, and will be subscribing. You pretty much answered everything I had questions about. Also appreciate the part where you stage out the wiring.
This review really helped me decide and I just purchased mine. I'm 36 and I'm past the rattling trunk years. I just want a clean sound. An upgrade to the factory speakers in my tacoma. Can't wait to install it.
@@brianreid1377 looks and sounds good. It was exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure it will sound better when I switch out the oem speakers. But for now, it sounds good.
Thats me too at this point in my life (36yrs) went to a audio place and they like get two subs for that thump, and im like naw im grown for that shit lol
Any update on this? I have a regular cab tacoma and I'm considering either the 8 or 10 inch of this model but mounting it on the back wall. Not sure on on under the seat or behind it would be best.
@@JS-bp3uplate … but the ss8p actually is really decent it gives a solid thump with that imho I’d get the 10” one think it’s the ss10p Has 200 w rms over this one which is 100w rms also the 10” will deff give more bass over the 8”
Hey ,Thanks, Amazing video, i want to let you know your videos there so down to earth easy to understand you explain everything perfectly, i happen to come across your page n every video is done perfectly not all that mega tech stuff i get lost yr like a perfect teacher Thanks Dude ,,,, Tatzz.
I appreciate the things you share! Looking to add a little more bass to my '08 Crown Vic on a level where I can get quality sound for a variety of music genres, within my vehicle. Not interested in making heads turn, or having people ask me, what else did I get for Christmas! lol I just want to be able to understand what I'm listening to, with the windows rolled up. I think the Rockville SS8P might do the job for me! I like what you're doing! 👏🤗👏Thanks! Keep up the good work!
You’d def b better off with a kicker hideaway I love mine you’ll have bass that u can feel in the chest (nothing too overwhelming but everyone around will kno u obviosly got a sub in there) Rockville don’t have the best track record I’d bet money you’ll smell smoke in ur car within the first week I’ve had my kicker hideaway over 2 years be and the only problem I’ve found is I turn the bass up so loud some of my door speakers blew but the sub is still banging
I want to come back and say that I got this little sub working great. I had the gain turned up too so high that it caused it to overheat. I reset it to a good level and the overheating stopped. This thing sounds great.
Does it actually sound like you have a subwoofer or does it sound like door speaker bass ? I'm debating on whether to go with this or a single subwoofer with an amp
@@AtticAZ Is it a close trunk or like a hatch trunk ? And how would I be able to set 2 of these up ? Would I need to run more wires and gauges like how it's done with the first one or something
@@turbro7185 In an actual trunk of my Mustang. You can hook it up the standard way, RCA’s or.. simply via wires to the rear deck woofers. The built-in amp converts the signal. 👌🏼 I was very skeptical. But it sounds good to me. I’m not a huge car audio guy. So I didn’t think it’s be so easy to install. But it was. Only wire I had to run to the front was the one to the battery.
Great review 👍 I'm an baby boomer who is looking for NON teeth rattling bass. I have a Jeep, so an under seat unit won't work ( possible water intrusion). So Your review has led me to the RMW8A 8" loaded sub by Rockville. I hope it'll surprise me as much as the one In your review.
i put this in my vw cc i traded 5 yrs ago no one out side will hear it but your seat will tell you the whole car is vibrating it is kinda cool and tunable with a switch
What year forester? I’ve got a 19’ with HK system and I ordered the Sound Ordinance powered sub from Crutchfield today, but checking my other options in case I need to return it.
@@erikpartida884 2011 JVC KW-V25BT head with 4 JBL CLUB6520, the JBLs sound amazing just I want a little more bass, not going crazy I don't need to be heard from two miles away.
Excellent demo. Definitely sold me on it... curious though- You mentioned it would be better to install two of them. I’m wondering how that’s possible. Would I be able to plug both of them into my aftermarket head unit? Or would I have to Daisy chain them somehow? (no0b here)
Thanks for the honest review on the SS8P, I watched both of them. Did you install the "sub level remote" to manually control the sub gain and if it's optional, then without it, does it default to its maximum gain?
Thanks for the answer. I followed your lead and bought both the powered sub and also the Scosche LOC2SL but I was wondering if that’s actually necessary since the Rockville has both the RCA line level inputs as well as speaker level inputs built in? It makes sense for you to use one in your car because you said you will eventually upgrade this to a much nicer amp with a large sub to match and you will definitely need the line level out but I’m pretty sure that a simple powered sub like the Rockville will be as far as I ever go for my car’s sound system (2018 Civic). What do you think? Should they theoretically be the same or will using the LOC be better and how much better? (I now have the wiring I need for either scenario: nice shielded RCA or 2 pairs of 16 gauge speaker wire so I can try out both scenarios later today)
@@jasontram7775 - I realize this comment is a bit late, but I figured some kind of answer would be nice for others who may have a similar question. I just installed this unit in my '99 Dakota. From what I can tell, an LOC would just be redundant and unnecessary for this unit. An LOC is simply converting a high level signal into a low level signal. Unless you require the use of a remote turn on wire, I'd save the money. If you don't have preamp (RCA) outputs, then just hook the unit up via the speaker wires in the factory harness. The amp will automatically turn on when it sees a signal on those wires, and turn off when the signal goes away.
I had a 10” kicker solo-baric L7 in a single truck box with a 600w boss amp that sounded great with my Ozzy or Metallica but put out good bass when some of the club hits like Walk it out or snap your fingers come on. Do you think two of these paired with four 6”x 9”s would give a good clear tight base for a convertible 4x4 going down the Highway? I’m in my 40’s and used to “bigger is better” thinking but don’t need to feel the bass now days! Lol. Thanks for the review too.
The bad thing with those are that they heat up fast then go into protection mode till it cools back down.. they need a better way to get rid of the heat
Thanks for the awesome review. My competition bass setups were left behind in my 20's. But now Im in my late 30's and my wife and kid hate bass that slaps too hard, but Im looking for good clarity. Would you recommend for pop or rock music? Does ut have any distortion or rattle and higher volumes? I don't need insane bass, just something to hit those low notes that my 6.5"s in the doors just cant hit.
GOOD VID MAN. iM THINKING ABOUT GETTING TWO ROCKVILLES FOR MY XCAB SILVERADO . YOU SOLD ME ON IT. THANKS. WHEN I PUT THEM IN ILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THEY ARE.
I think it's a good speaker if ur not planning to put hearing aid when u get older. If u want more attention from other people get two 15 inch sub and blast it till u faint.
I blow up a Jl audio w3 12" and I don't regret.. It lasted 2 years.. I'm replacing It with an Alpine s series and I want one of this to Boost the bass from 100hz and above .. My car sounds like a festival and I love it
Hey when I was 17 had a suv with 2 12s that thing was thumping in the high school parking lot until I cracked the sub lol but yea I just want a more clear louder high and lows with a little thump
I probably missed it, but where did you tap the high level inputs into? I just installed in my truck and used the rear speakers. I was told that I should have tapped into directly into the head unit (mine is stock) because rear speakers can be "bandwith limited". Never heard of such a thing. EDIT: nevermind. you used RCAs.
I have a 1991 miata, looking for some more base, already have a nice Sony head unit and Rockford fosgate door speakers. Do you think this will hit decently for such a small 2 seater if positioned under my seat
That was fun, thank you, cool peeps. Im gonna install a Pyle PLBX8A in my 94 corvette vert, i bought kit to go along with. I have boss h/u installed. Im gonna i stall this pyle via rca, not speaker hi/low. Any tips? It should sound really good in a small vette cabin. Excited!
Bought Cerwin Vegas for the doors, put in a good head unit, now am just looking for a decent little sub to make the sound come alive. Now that I am in my fifties, I don't need to bounce heavy plastic plates off the ceiling using my port tubes and dual 15", lol. If you read this, could you tell me your experience as far as sound clarity? That is what I am after. I appreciate the video anyway, thx.
With a question if I have a subwoofer connected in my car, is it also to connect the car speakers because I see the video that they do not connect it? I saw everything as it is on video but it does not sound like I could advise you
I'm upgrading to an Atoto double din S8 Gen 2. Though I'm not sure how to run an additional amp for the door speakers in an Ex Cap Silverado. Which will tie the 8in Rockville to my power harness. How do I connect an additional amp, and the 8in Rockville to the stereo and still have them power off and on with the stereo? Please share links, HELP❗❗❗🤯
Nice video...but it would have been better if you did a comparison with the subwoofer turned on and off. Hard to appreciate the sound recorded on your cellphone or camera and listening to it on a PC or phone. You should demo the remote too. Thanks
Cool video dude. Well done, and a funny quick thinking personality have you. Im looking for subs for a 2010 Rav4. Maybe a 10" underseat Rockville, maybe 2 8's. Idk. Any suggestions? I like a range from lofi to deathcore. Cheers bruv!
I have a 1968 c10 and the gas tank is behind the seat so I don’t have much room for a sound system. Do you think it would be better with a amp if I we’re to get a amp because I have 3 other speakers in the truck already
I have 2 on the way now but I've been scouring the interweb on how to connect 2 of these things and no one can tell mee! What's your take on possibly how to? 🤔
Yo I'm so glad you demo this particular model because I had the chance to purchase one a few months ago but decided not to go with the SS8 because under the seat type of enclosures doesn't do shit for my car as far as low end bass so I ended up going with a 10inch Kicker giga tube setup without an amp and that shit dumps majorly with my after market Amazon double din unit ✊💪🔥🔥🔥🏆🏆😎 #Oldspeakerslastthelongest
Yes it can. But not as well. Because of the radio. It has it's own built in limits that limit bass and your sub will also be limited unless you get a line out converter
hei, nice video! I am thinking of getting this... I used to have a large subwoofer at the back but now with two kids I can´t afford to loose much space. placing it under the seat is the only option for me
This will do nicely or any of the under seat Subwoofers. Honestly I wish I got the 10in version but honestly I wasn't looking to spend a bunch of money and this was the cheapest
This is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks! I just want some more punch in my work truck's low-end without rattling the doors off, but not so much that my ears will go out. Now will this wake up my neighbors when I'm pulling in at night? I'm running a used Kenwood head unit with a 400 watt amp and kicker speakers.
Ok, then is that the better way to go? Does it give you a better sound? I’m trying to decide if I should use my stock radio or buy an aftermarket radio with RCA outputs. My stock radio doesn’t have them
@@DirtyJobsGuy1 It's always better to go rca if you can. I wouldn't buy a whole new radio just for the ability to plug your sub to it. But a new headunit would give you better sound overall and that's definitely worth the upgrade
Hello That good Advice,i have a Peugeot 308 SW 7 seater due to space i need under seat sub..Whats your advice do i need one or two...And is it necessary to use car amplifier....will appreciate your advice
I got a 1200w Rockville 12 inch built in amp, I plan on getting a low profile 10 inch 800w Rockville sub, all the same wiring and everything, and as you were mentioning putting 2, my question is is it possible to use only one set of wiring for the 2
@@Kpaceguy I figured it out, distribution block to power both subs, same with the ground and jump the remote wire and use some RCA splitters. The RCA splitter is the part that's getting me
I think people are complaining about the bass, but it isn't captured over phone video. This prob sounds great in person and just provides a little extra down low nothing earth shaking. Much better than a small factory sub.
Hey Bro Love your channel.. What do you think of Rockville products as a whole? I was looking at their Tower speakers for my Man cave.. I respect your opinion BC u know your Shit..
i got a 2008 f-250, 2 1/2 door, and i wanna get two of these. i like having some bass to my music but nothing crazy. you think two of these will be good enough?
Hi everyone, need some help. I bought the same powered sub, but the plug in wiring that came with it is a different size than the wiring rockville recommended which is the red power and the black ground. Can I hook up 2 different size wires together? Example: the ground black wire plugged into the sub would be connected/heat shrinked together to a bigger 10gauge wire that would be connected to the metal which is ground. And same for the red power wire. Thanks for the help!!
