Hey THC Titan! You made the leap to rockwool) Look's good. You could use a rain gutter to catch your runoff, and have it angled into a reservoir and then pumped away to waste. I noticed a old school timer in the back ground in one of the shots and wanted to tell you about these smart plugs from amazon. They hook into your wifi network 2.4 g and can be operated with your smart phone it can be set with multiple schedules as well as tracks your electric usage. They also have a strip that has 4 programable plug with 4 programable usb plug ins. However, the strip does not track electric usage though. Looking forward to seeing these girls blast off! Peace!)
THC Titan I'm sure you get many opinions, and that gets old, but you could also run PVC angled below the trays, with 'tees' that the 1/2" line plugs into, just a thought.
Trasitioning is always a bitch huh? But i know you're going to killit though no sweat, i do question useing all those diff microbes as its said that thenmicrobes will compete and /or kill each other off till there is only one kind of microb left. Cheers bro and keep on keeping on.
If you want to grow Rockwool, you need to check out "higrowgroup" on RU-vid. That's where he is getting all the information from. If you do it right, Rockwool is the easiest way to grow.
@@thctitan Yes, thank you very much. I later on found them on Grodan Brochure as well. Thanks a lot for poducing great videos. All the best for future prosperous harvests!
Love the new set up but I have 2 recommendations. One check it a condensation pump for your runoff. And second why not do only supporting blocks per side and 2x4 beans. That'll allow you to have support for your runoff and your drip lines. And you don't have as many cement blocks on the floor. And you'll be able you slide your trays side to side if you need a little more space to work. Just my thoughts as an observer. I do have a question though. Where did you get those trays bc I'm looking for them myself.
I'm sure that I will change a few things after this run, but this is mainly just to see if I like growing in rockwool or not. I found them online, I forgot what site. Just search for dutch leach tray and it will come up.
Been waiting on this for a while, I have my note pad ready. The last time I tried this I caught hell feeding 75-100ml shots mainly because the pump I had didn’t supply enough pressure. I was so scared of over feeding I pretty much starved them to 💀
Honestly man as someone who works at a hydro shop... It's not bullshit... Product is hard to move sometimes and the big guys demand such low prices and order so much that we really only make money when we piggy back off there orders so the vendors will sell it for less cause we buy it in such vast amounts. once we move the big guys order we have an extra pallet to have around that was sent on the same truck. That's why every grow shop has an over stock of rock wool, buckets, a type of lamp (One someone buys a shit tone of constantly), a specific size of tubing and other items a couple of big guys buy a tone of. The vendors also pander to the bigger guys, by noticing an up tick in a specific set of product's and they start cranking up production and playing with prices to accommodate the demand. If you go in and ask them to order whatever you need and explain that you'll put down half the cost once it's ordered and the other half once it arrives. Then they'll get you whatever you need and just pray to all the gods it doesn't get delayed. You'll also help them piggy back the same items you bought off your order thus they'll have some around the shop if yours brakes... (If they have the room to keep it around the shop)
Learning curve with this Rockwool stuff. It really pays off if you stick with it though. I lost like 100 plants to figured it just needs b damp not soaking wet.
You're not getting any UV from those bulbs. Unless the glass is *specifically* designed to allow it through, it is designed to do the opposite. So, no UV.
@@thctitan in fact if im honest iv never done river ponics ether lol im a 4-5 plant percy indoor soil biobizz cupboard grower. Really like your set up tho dude. Im a new sub from the UK by the way
OOOh So excited for this one!! Loving your setup especially the lines. This will either prove or disprove something for me I guess and that is bud size vs rootball size. My last buds got so big for many reasons i'm sure but taking the time to build a big root mass was one, I even vegged longer giving them haircuts until the stems I were cutting were almost 10mm thick lol!! Now the shoots are thick, buds are big and I see the benefit for sure...however in coco i'm watering only once a day in bigger pots. (3 true gals is bigger for me than anything else i've used in here.. Because the spoon feed hydro method was designed to take up less root space in situations where it's not available, I have to see a fair go in which coco is not treated like Promix and is treated more like rockwool or hydroton... Example, switch to organics completely and the first thing we see is we need to go bigger with the pots. In my grow journals in the forum at 420 mag I am close with many organic guys and they've been trying to convince me to join the empire...Personally I can't help but look at it like this: Do what YOU like and it will be fire. When a person in organics says they feed, what is the number 1 correction they give people? Feed the SOIL and let it do the work. Here's my problem. we've spent a ton to get the environment on point, why try to create ANOTHER ecosystem, making sure that it's conducive bacteria and don't overgrow the non conducive bacteria, that we give the right sugars, have worms for aeration and basically we add water and hope that our concoction of mixed dirt has enough of the right microlife for their WASTE to become food for my plant... Why? We know what plants use, how to make those ions so let's feed the plant not the soil...just seems a bit redundant and sloppy IMO and hardly repeatable. I'm sure i've offended many, and I don't mean to it just my opinion. Please do not be offended before my opinions is my belief that we have multiple ways for multiple people. If you want to put in the work and research into creating soils rich with the microlife needed for genotypic expression I would not fault you. It's just not my cup of tea. Probably better for environment, I won't argue and outside I will be running organics. Indoors will likely always be a hydroponic, hybrid system of synthetics and a couple selective bacteria that act as a PGR and regulate Phosphorus use and plant metabolism. In this case the microbes are highly specialized. So... As a continuation of an earlier discussion on hydroponics and roots, we discussed a smaller root ball when flooding 3 times a day in coco and I think the whole point is that it wasn't required that we have a big rock hard, full pot root ball because the water is constantly (or near so) moving across the roots and drawing fresh oxygen down etc. My last go was a joke harvest wise but I made a lot of mistakes. This one looks great, video up later today. Much Growers love and I predict with the drip lines and rockwool you get bigger plants, bigger buds, smaller roots and that's ok;)
I think that root density plays a big role in yield. With bigger containers the roots are spread out quite a bit, but they are usually net very dense as most growers do not have the proper dry downs, or they do not let the plant veg long enough to fully take advantage of all of the available root area. We shall see with this run for sure. I am already getting a good amount of root mass coming out of the bottom of the block.
Looking great nice work! This technique is one of the first I ever tried indoor and you hit every point to make sure you're dialling it in perfectly! 😍👊✌
@@bullycollective8852 if Your blue lab combo meter is not accurate after calibrating it then it's most likely the probe and to be replaced. You can find them online for $50 or less and as long as It's nothing to blue lab pH meter that should fix your problem. I had the same issue with mine, the pH probe is a lot more sensitive than the PPM one.
Moisture content by feel is hard a meter is almost a necessity when growing with Rockwool for the most precise dry back I’m using smartbee controllers still in trial period
I made the move to rockwool bout three runs back with the floraflex caps automated watering system. I’m digging the results for sure. Only few things have me on the fence about maybe going back to coco in 3/4 gallon pots with floraflex caps multi feeds daily. One issue is measuring dry back acutely without the grow sense gear(cost prohibitive) and the second issue would be disposing if the rockwool and to some extent the cost of the six inch cubes verses even high end coco are fairly substantial. Even with those concerns I’m loving how clean and easy the rockwool is,plus the end products have been some of my best to date. One thing I’ve learned for sure is the cubes like it on the dry side (oxygen bath for the roots) and the hold water way longer than coco or clay pebbles. Great video thanks for making meaningful content. 👍✌️
What cubes are you using? The 6x6, 8x8, and grodan or pargo? My fall back is the flora flex pot pro containers with coco if this doesn't go well, which will fit right into this system. Thank for for the insight I definitely appreciate it.
THC Titan I was running the 6x6 grodan cubes, but I had a bunch of 4x4 and 4x2 grodan cubes from the hydrostore where I used to work. When he went outta business he said to take what I wanted so I racked up. I’ve not had to buy much of anything in nearly two yrs.so when I used up my 6x6 grodans I’ve now just started a run where I’ve taken mostly 4x4 grodans n one gallon floodtable pots and surrounded the cubes with the mini cubes/croutons.with a small layer of hydroton in the bottom of the pot. I love the croutons alone I’ve never ran them in conjunction with the larger cubes.as always time will tell the tale. It’s funny u mention the propots. I just yesterday ordered some for myself. I doubt you’ll remember when I first subd you back good while ago, and you’d picked up a titan controls co2 regulator and I myself had gotten the same unit a few days earlier then awhile back I’d ordered a ten inch max fan to use with my can 100 filter. Then the next vid of yours sure enough you’d gotten a 10” max fan yourself and now the floraflex gear.i think maybe it’s true that great minds do think alike. Lol. Good luck on your switch to rockwool I’m sure you’ll knock it outta tha park like always. I almost forgot but your ladies look really happy n healthy.i myself have been liking a little longer veg time. Its hard to wait but I think it’s well worth it. Apologies for the novel length post. Take care n happy holiday season to you and yours. ✌️
@@bigadkins1969 well lucky you... haha. Yea, I do remember the comment about the titan controller! I guess in this case, that cliche does hold true 👊🏼😁
THC Titan I definitely agree with you just stating the fact that most grows I’ve seen here is usually flood and drain. Yeah it’s a lazy route but also a commercial grow so I’m assuming it was the only route that made sense to them labor and monetary wise.
for 99% its cheaper to buy weed than to grow, people dont realize the equipment cost to produce quality buds, you cant put a seed in a rockwool cube with a 100w grow light
