It's weird to be watching a RU-vid video and see my local gas station and convenience store. For what it's worth, Rocky Gap Road is the original road that ran through what is now the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop area. It was an old, old back way up and over the Spring Mountains towards Pahrump. In the movie "Rain Man", made a few years before the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area was created, there are a few scenes where the Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman are driving along the paved section of Rocky Gap Road. They were supposedly driving through New Mexico in the movie. That section is now the second half of the Scenic Loop.
it was a very scenic drive for sure, after the actual Rocky Gap Trail. I am actually planning on going back and exploring the other areas. I want to check out that Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop area. Did we past it after our trail?
Some good trails that I’ve done in CA are John Bull, Holcomb Creek, Gold Mountain. Just did two in Colorado, Ophir Pass (scary drive across shale that has a huge drop off next to the road), Imogene Pass (goes up to 13,000 feet elevation). We also went to Utah (Moab) and did Hell’s Revenge and Fins and Things. Living in OC, I’ve gone up Santiago Peak several times. That’s a nice scenic route.
That's awesome bro! Yep I am local here on OC/LA area. Small group of us doing TOW, and Colarado this November. As far for Jeep Badges... we are doing Arizona in 1 weekend.
You can do it without any spotter. We just have new people here with us on this trip. We didn't have belly armor also so we are just being extra cautious lol. Thanks for watching
I ran this trail the opposite way last week in a rented 2018 Jeep that was all stock suspension with 34" tires, several of the bypass routes were washed out so we had to take the fun way. It was doable, but just be careful, you will bottom out on some of the bigger stuff. We had to stack some rocks to get over a few places.
Hey brother was looking for your Instagram so we can connect but looks like it’s not up anymore. Anyway I’m in Vegas and I have a Jeep I wanted to connect so we can hit a trail
