John is an ex-para commando in this movie and para commandos are trained in knife and fistfight, if you see the movie they show the background of the main character in which they tell where he is from, so all the action is justified

Movie name - Commando (Obviously not the Arnold one) - Prt 1 - first fight scene just watch his skills, I am sure you would not expect this from Indian movie - But Vidyut Jamwal is a legend in his own right!
