Hey, we were going to that exact same hike this last Saturday, which was also the windiest day of the year. Did sprague lake and a few trails off there instead because we were less Lucky with parking at bear lake. Been really enjoying your vids since we also can't travel much right now!
Happy New Year! Another fun, wonderful video. We had plans to go to Roatan in February and have decided to postpone till September. We are very sad not to be going there in just weeks, but I wasn't going to feel completely comfortable going - and after spending our 2 weeks in Indonesia just before the borders shut down, I would rather go on vacation when things are going better. So, fingers crossed we will be in Roatan in September. In the meantime, I will be following you guys wherever you go and loving every minute of it!! Stay safe!
Bear Lake is so beautiful. I was there last summer. I left my car at the Beaver meadows visitor center around 9am and walked through Moraine Park to Fern Lake trail then up to Odessa lake and made the loop to Lake Bear to catch the shuttle. It was a very strenuous hike but worth the almost 20 miles. This is the kind of place I would want to come back to visit again and again.
Yay, you're in my neck of the woods ! Yes, the trail is usually so busy, and this Fall was the busiest I had ever seen it. The parking lot was full before the sun rose! Next time you're in the area I highly recommend continuing the loop of the trail you were on; Lake Hiyaha is stunning, the oldest tree in the park is up there, loop goes through a magical forest, and Alberta Falls is also beautiful. Totally! We did get good advice on starting early at least. We could easily kill two weeks around Estes Park- so much to do there! Worst case scenario is that we have to visit again sometime!

I live in between Denver & Boulder, when you guys are back in the area you're welcome to park outside my house and I'll hook you up with some good wifi and an extension cord. Where did you guys put Pepper during your hike? I'll be up there in May again but this time with my dog and need a place for her to hang out while I hike. Dream lake is even prettier in the summer! 🐕🦺
We dropped off Pep at a Rover in Estes Park. That way we didn't have to worry about her in the car- instead she got to go get plenty of exercise for the day!

You guys were right the first time. The second lake was Dream lake. The last lake is Emerald Lake. If there wasn’t snow all over the lake, you would have seen the stunning green color it is. It was soooo cool to see you guys do the same hike we’ve done! Loved this so much!!
Unless we are wrong too, lol! Based on the trail signs that’s what we concluded. But if you google “dream lake” and “emerald lake” the same lake shows up so who really knows lol
Emerald Lake isn't large. From just a short walk up a mountain it appears small like a puddle in the mountain which it is. It gets it's beautiful green color from minerals not algae. In fact, the water is very cold clean and clear. It's probably drinkable but the signs posted say don't drink it cause you'll get an intestinal parasite that makes you shit yourself silly six months later. Mountain ppl must have had the runs constantly. Diarrhea is hereditary any way. It runs in the jeans.
Nice video! We did a good amount of camping with our camper this summer in our home state of Michigan. Getting it winterized and basically being stuck by home from November on has been an adjustment psychologically. Normally in the winter we sometimes rent a cabin and still get up north, but because of the pandemic we have chosen to stay home for the winter. Luckily, we live in an area with some nice parks for birdwatching and hiking. And, we are talking about going to the family cottage on Lake Michigan to get away a couple weekends, although it has been winterized. We look forward to your 2021 adventures! Yes, that 2nd Lake was Nymph Lake. You didn't make it to Emerald Lake? That hike is my wife and my favorite hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. We just live 40 miles away. The best time to hike it is in the fall with some trees changing and not such big crowds. This year it was difficult. You had to get reservations. Those ended in October. We had a week in Estes in October and had to leave early as the wildfires from two directions were approaching Estes Park. Thankfully, they didn't get to Estes, but burned a good section of RMNP and an area down the mountain almost to Fort Collins and Loveland. We're headed to Florida on Sunday (Panama City Beach, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. May drive down Gulf coast and over to Fort Lauderdale.)
We felt really smart when we thought it was Dream Lake :) All things considered, it was really tough to film at Dream Lake anyway so we're glad we took time earlier. That wind kicked up and it was FREEZING. Hope we're able to get back to RMNP sooner rather than later- so much more to explore there but not nearly enough time to do it. My favorite place ever....but my number 1 place is "GOLDEN COLORADO" at " MT EVENS" please if you get the chance it's worth your time and you can drive to the top whiche is over 14,000 feet it's spectacular....you truly have to stop and take it all in it makes you relize that there is more to this world then material craziness.....i felt like i coul hear god being there and I'm not very religious.....it truly was the 1 place i have ever visited that madd me feel like i was just a spec in this big world....it's only about 1/2 hour from denver....you can not visit in winter only in summer.....i absolutely love watching your travel video's....you both are such a down to earth couple....thank you for sharing your travel & life with us i appreciate it....i wish you all the best in 2021. Keystone was still cranking snow! Def a dry season but when you're from the midwest, even CO dry is 100x better than the best snowday back in WI. I hope Spring absolutely pounds the Rockies with snow- fingers crossed on having a reason to go back out there/
