No doubt. If you've had the pleasure of knowing REAL fighters... as I have... you'd know that a fighter's life is the very definition of the word tragedy. It takes a special kind of person to commit to a life so unforgiving, painful, and violent.
vegitausa 😭. The other line that got me was when Rocky says to Adrian “I just wanna go home Mick.” I was never a pro athlete I did play college soccer as a GK and can remember games where you give everything you have and get so exhausted that all you wanna do is go home.
Uto Resa 519 He didnt throw the towel because he promised apollo not to. And he respected apollo so much that he couldnt throw in the towel, not because he had brain damage
I love the scene in locker room. It's a tribute to all fighters to show the world it's not only a sport to earn huge amount of money but also a huge sacrifice.
2:35, these days if Rocky was seeing three, they would've stopped the fight and he would've lost his boxing license. Instead, in this era, it's "Hit the one in the middle."
This is why I'll always defend Rocky V. Rocky IV gave us the Hollywood Ending, and Rocky V gave us the a realistic outcome of what it's like to take that level of punishment to the skull, and keep coming back.
this opening is very dark, I mean you hear church bells, something about angels falling, the shaking hands, it’s like he’s dying wow, can’t blame him tho after fighting the fight of his life
I seen Rocky V at the movies when I was about 10 years old. I guess you have to see it in real time for the full experience. It is definitely not my favorite but it has some good scenes and I enjoyed it.
I like that Rocky IV was the tipping point of the series. After him came the devastating effects from the fight that now eventually led to him meeting him again in Creed II
loved how they edited this scene, in 4 Drago did beat Rocky bad but the way the fight was recut plus sound mix and then set to Bill Conti's Conquest made Rocky's ass whipping far more brutal! goosebumps every time.
Certainly not the best entry of the series but Rocky V had some great moments throughout: - the flashback scene with Rocky and Mickey where Rocky receives the glove - Adrian setting Rocky straight in the middle of the street late at night - Rocky assuring his son that although he made mistakes, from now on it'll be the 'home team' - Mickey's 'get up you son of a bitch!' during the street fight - Rocky giving his son the glove at the end Just to name a few
movie started off so strong, opening scene had the suspense music with rocky showing the effects of the fight with drago, it was solid. queue next scene "where's the kid, i don't see the kid". from here the movie was on a rapid decline downhill and you cant change my mind. for me rocky 5 is the opening scene and that's it.
his kid went from 7 to like 12 in the span of a few months lol I didnt mind and accepted it on some level, but could never reconcile that aspect of the film, unless he had been in a Russia for a few years and doubt Pauly would've stuck around that long, if that was the case. I enjoyed the street fight at the end though and overall thought it waa good, just kinda sad though too, felt like the last time we would see Rocky and pretty much would have to imagine what other situations he was in or moments with Adrian that he shared,
Literally his comment in Rocky 6 here is this intro...."nobody hits more hard than life....but aint about how hard you can hit, it is about how much you can take it and keep moving forward..."
Unfairly dubbed the "black sheep" of the franchise. Mostly by 'casual' Rocky fans. Any true fan knows this movie kicks ass. "Get up you son-of-a-bitch, cause Mickey loves 'ya!!" *LOL*
2:48 Imagine getting hit by this roided up dirty punch. This is how Rocky got brain damage. Sometimes it's better to get knocked out in one hit than to be able to take multiple head shots. Also sad how Drago single handedly took Apollo and Rocky out of the ring for good.
I actually think it would have been a good idea of leaving the "you're gonna do it" line in here. Further emphasizes that at this moment Rocky is on top of the world but with Bill Conti's score we get the feeling something bad is about to happen to him.
That's Not The Power Of A Human At All, it's The Power Of Superman,That's What i Like The Most About:Rocky,it's The Power:The Most important Thing in This World, i Will Do My Possible To Become Like Him in The Future:in Boxing,i Will Take All The Punches:Exactly Like Him in The Future, injuries Don't Scares Me.
@sokerkritik thats because Rocky V starts to take place right after rocky IV,but as the movie progresses it actually becomes 1990 by time Rocky and Tommy Gunn fight. Rocky 4 was made in 1985 but timeline wise for the movie it took place in 1986,Rocky 5 was all happening in a 4 year time period. For them to change the actor protraying Rocky's son all in between the movie would of been too confusing. so they just used the same actor(Stallone's actual son) throughout the movie.
Dolph Lundgren said his character was being controlled by his people so that's why Drago said in Russian "I fight to win for me! For me!" And that's when I realized he didn't give a fuck during and after that fight.
For this opening, the movie presents a excelent idea to be explored. Rocky is hurt. This is happening with many fighters around the world. But, the directors don´t know explored this idea during the movie. Results: Terrible movie, exception your intro.
Tony, Paulie and Adrian should have known the abuse Rocky took from Drago that literally killed Apollo, he would never be the same. The heavy breathing and shaking hands just made me ask the question, will Rocky survive though the night?? Wow..
Ese inicio, y como todo giro todo 180 grados, la historia me gustó muchísimo, era lógico que después de la tormenta que fue drago, llegará la calma y las cabezas frías, es una de las películas que más la identificó con las dos primeras películas.
I don’t think anyone’s beating this man in his prime in the rocky universe except Rocky himself. I personally think Drago would destroy anyone else who’s been in these movies.
i have all the anthology dvds of all the rocky movies and the younger generation will never understand about the saga .People cannot find the dvds because thier even are even no places or malls they don't have the dvds. i grew up in Lynnfield ma with both of my real faughter and mother Jewish. Man this represents the other side of boxing that not very much ppl talk..even if you're of one of the best, you gotta accept the fact that you could live with some long term consequences
4:00-5:00 is really disturbing, especially with that creepy music in the background, cause Rocky is suffering from brain damage in Rocky V. I think that they decided to ignore this fact in Rocky Balboa however.
Even though this is a great part I always felt it was like getting to see behind the scenes or behind close doors. Like it is a part of Rocky's life we shouldn't get to see.
