Rods music has been with me since the 80’s. I’ve seen him hundreds of times and I am always moved. I even went longboard surfing with him and honey... he is just as good of a surfer as he is playin harp. Nobody wows a crowd more than Rod and honey. I loved it when they played with Jimi Botts on drums with Alex Schultz on guitar and Bill Stuve on upright bass.

Rod Piazza's been at it for almost 50 years to my knowledge. A maestro of the swingband idiom. If I had only one band, it would be Rod's with Honey on the 88's!

Until you hear rod play chromatic live you have no idea how good a chromatic can sound. It is truly amazing

didn't know who Rod Piazza was until about four years ago. I now have a shelf full of this Cats stuff. His style opened up a whole new world to me on the harp. His chromatic work is really soulful and he's got great licks. thanks for sharing and Keep rockin Rod, you're the man!

Yeah Dan, I've been listening to Piazza for 40 plus years and I agree with you! Ghosting I feel is one of the finest pieces he has done. The harp DOESN'T have to be balls to the wall. Yes a Masterpiece!!! As tasteful as it gets.

I always liked and respected the chromatic but had no desire to play one, untill I heard rod piazza live. It was an incredible sound like a mack truck bearing down on you. Ever since then I have gotten a chromatic and from time to time try to get that Rod piazza sound.

I always like the chromatic but I heard rod playing the chromatic through a marshal amp and I fell in love with it. loud deep bluesy way beyond what I thought it could do.

Rod Piazza is a blues master, and definitely has the kool factor. I was glad to hear the mention of Larry Adler.

@@mitchgawlik1175 You just talked about Larry Adler, a full time donor of the conservative party and a poster boy for Israel. He was a zionist propagandist, Bro.

Move someone's soul Rod? I just wanna tell ya that On numerous occasions your playing has got to me Man. And it's usually during a part of the song that's subtle but, I get it Man and I thank you. If y'all ain't never heard Ghosting - well....it is no doubt in my mind a true masterpiece. And I'm happy to recognize it as such. We need to stop waiting till these cats are gone before appreciating the music. Wherever you are, right now - tonight - do something for the Blues. Love ya Man

recording's do not capture the unbelievable sound rod gets on a chromatic, live you feel like a mack truck bearing down on you and it is a thing of beauty

still think Rod should cut an album of "Rod Piazza Does the Standards". Rod should put the unique Piazza aound into cuts like "Ruby", "Serenata", "Gloworm", and "Stardust"...I think it'd be sensational.

George smith... little walter, played those fake octave's what the heck is a fake octave?
@bluesharmonicateacher
@bluesharmonicateacher 4 года назад
It's where your lips surround four holes, blocking the two middle holes with your tongue. Unlike the diatonic harmonica, where this commonly gives you an octave, it gives you a different interval on the chromatic (such as a 6th). A standard octave on the chromatic is where your lips surround five holes, blocking three holes in the middle with your tongue... this gives you an octave (two of the same note, separated an octave apart).
