I liked all three eras of Bob Barker. The johnny olson era, and of course the one I grew up on Rod Roddy era, and the rich Fields era. rest in peace to johnny olson, Rod Roddy, and now Bob Barker.

I was just thinking about all the times I stayed home sick in the 90s watching this. Such good times.

Yeah! For kids sick at home, any show that came on after TPIR was garbage soap operas until about 3:30pm. I used to force myself out of bed when I had the flu just to watch it instead of sleep, since I knew nothing good was on later.

Rod Roddy was one of the best TV announcers of all time. As for "TPIR", as far as I'm concerned, that show ended when Bob Barker retired.(Drew Carey doesn't have Bob's charisma!)

@@allenjones3130 Yes, that show really ended when Bob retired. I can't even watch it now. I'm 53 and I grew up with Bob, Johnny Olsen, Dian, Janice, Holly, and Rod. The show has never been the same without any of those celebrities 😭

he chit I was raised with Rod as the announcer, but watching episodes with Johnny Olson it's hard to say who is better because they both were so damn great.

Both Johnny Olson & Rod Roddy were great announcers on "The Price is Right", and were the best announcers this show's ever had!!! R.I.P., Johnny & Rod. Miss you both. :'(

Both Johnny & Rod were tremendous on the show. I think Rod showed a touch more enthusiasm than Johnny did.

It was actually on January 21. 2002 when the show did a Primetime Special celebrating the 30th Anniversary. And yes, it was disappointing to see that there was a decline in Rod Roddy's on-camera appearances. :( And for the next year and a half up to his passing, we would never get to see his new flashy jackets.

I thought that was connected to the Primetime Specials that Summer after it, which if you remember Rod did only 3 of with Burton Richardson doing the other 3. This was when Bob really changed though, the model stuff before it preceding it. Even when Rod came back after his cancer, they didn't show him on air that day, they cut to an audience shot instead. Pretty sickening that he got treated that way. Even in Bob's own book Rod barely got a mention.

@@ajk The back and forth banter about weight always felt one sided. Bob seemed perturbed , while Rod was trying to please Bob. I cant imagine a conversation between a boss and a worker like that in today's working world.

@@AviationCommercials You know there was another incident that comes off that way to me. The "Where is Nicole" incident from the late 90's. It always felt like Bob couldn't stand being wrong on that one as far as what her last name was, and kinda took it to Rod as a result. Is that just me on that?
