Rod Stewart & Faces - Final Concert in 1974 at London's Kilburn State Theatre (FULL CONCERT) HQ

This is the final rollicking concert of the legendary Faces featuring a high powered performance from Keith Richards, Rod Stewart himself shakin' his booty like there's no tomorrow, and a string section for a little class. Although Rod went on to bigger success, many say his association with Faces was the musical highpoint of his career and this concert is the cinematic proof. Stewart and his Faces group were joined on-stage by Rolling Stones stalwart Keith Richard. For the record, "Faces" consisted of Ron Wood (guitar) Ian McLaglan (keyboard), future Who member Kenny Jones (drums) and Tetsu Yamauchi (replacing Ronnie Lane on bass).

My Dad plays the violin in this concert. If you want to see just that excerpt, search for Ron Wood and Laurie. My dad's 87 years old now but still remembers this event!

....I was there! Gaumont State Theatre Kilburn and they were fucking awesome! The support band was Strider who's lead guitarist Gary Grainger went on to play in Rod's band when he went to play all that Atlantic Crossing and A Night on the Town bollocks. This was my FIRST ever gig, great initiation into real rock and roll eh! Lap it up, you'll never see the likes of this again. Superb band and rock as it should be...

I saw the Faces in late 1972 or early 73. I saw them not long after seeing the Stones on the Sticky Fingers tour. The Stones were at their highest point then and the Faces were at least as good. The idea that they were, as a band, 'loose' is nonsense. They were one of the tightest rock bands I've ever seen. I saw 3 really great concerts within about a year of each other. The Stones and Faces were 2 of them and the Kinks were the 3rd. Great, great bands.

I don't think Ian McLagan gets anywhere near enough credit for the Faces sound... he put that barroom rumble into em. He was the most understated member in the Small Faces too. I've also developed a hell of a lot of respect for Ronnie Wood as a guitarist.. his playing wasn't too neat and his sound was pretty muddy, but it had character plus!.. it ripped and teared your head off! His chops were great, really creative bluesy guitarist.

This was the best time ever. I loved the faces and wished so much that they would have stayed together. Their concerts were like a party, the atmosphere was amazing, there was nothing that could beat it. My only wish then was obviously to meet the faces ( sadly) never happened. Rod's voice was powerful, gutsy, strong and very sexy. I grieve for the young Rod Stewart. Although I love his great sense of humour, the sexy way he talks to you and I still lust after his body. Sadly he has lost that powerful, gutsy voice. I wish I had the money when I was young to go to all the Faces concerts. His concerts today are still very enjoyable, mainly because I'm trying to relive that exciting youth, as I suspect many of his fans are. But the concerts these days are too polished, with not much if any surprise. Unlike the Faces, they had many surprises and a muck about on stage. I don't know why the remaining Faces don't get back together again.

I was 15 lived down the road from Kilburn - London was the world then now its a bloody disaster. This takes me back to a happy time, great music, great city and proud to have been born there, but glad I left. Thankfully youtube brings back the memories.

At 16 my first gig was November or December of '73 in Leeds at the beginning of this tour. Sadly Ronnie Lane had left by then, but they were still one hell of a band. I don't remember them doing any of the numbers from Ronnie's solo albums as on this gig. I do remember missing the last bus home, walking seven miles in a T-shirt and tartan waistcoat. Good times. Rod would soon sell out. a couple of yers later I bought Altlantic Crossing from the Virgin store in Sheffield, played it once and took it back in disgust, but we still have all the Faces and early solo to enjoy a terrific band.

Rod says "Let's hear it for Keith" at the end of I'd Rather be Blind, as Keith was on as a guest, probably with very little pre-gig rehearsals, etc, however Ronnie Wood absolutely crushes it and he wrote the song, with Rod and the boys, so wish Rod would have said "Let's hear it for Ronnie" as well..that was fantastic. Ronnie Wood will forever be the most under-rated guitarist of all time, in my view...not only having played bass for Jeff Beck Group, but then being the Faces one and only guitarist, and then later joining the Stones...it seems like people want to blame Ronnie Wood, for fact things didn't work out better for the Faces, but that wasn't his fault.

I remember this on tv. My parents and brother and sister didn’t moan or make a noise when I recorded it on my tape recorder, just realised how amazing that is. I still got the tape. Too bad someone couldn’t inhance the sound on this recording. But glad it’s been posted

For a few years, in the early 70's, The Faces were the best rock & roll band on Earth, who still had a cover charge.

I was glad that I was able to see this band live in the 70's before they broke up. One of the things I will always remember about that show was the number of girls who jumped on the stage that evening only to be carried off by the roadies.
