I believe he's saying he gets happy when he gets a call from his friends that are locked up because he gets to talk to them and probably vent on whats going on with him like his closest friends because he feels alone it sucks when your best friend or close family member is locked up and u can't talk to them or hang out with them specially if they are someone that's got u through hard times and was always there and now there not
This is amazing, the reason Rod Wave is good too, The message and the way he expresses his emotions through his music it gets his fans even more in tune with him and his music.
he was pretty much saying collect calls make him smile cuz he's glad to speak to his friend again, but the "damn brudda" part is him feeling bad that his friend's bout to do some time
I can relate to him. We are from the same exact streets in St. Pete, FL. It will relate anywhere really but he’s saying… Simply. It can be just that quick… “we were just in the streets now you’re on trial.”
@@TormentedVet_Reactions it’s so many songs but this 5 you need to react to 1. Heart on Ice, 2. abandoned, 3. close enough to hurt, 4. Tombstone, 5. PTSD
He’s saying his brother or friend was out running the streets but now he’s going to trial(prison) and then right after he says “ya mama I made it out the streets I hope you finally proud” the irony in those lines back to back is deep, because he feels pain his friend is locked up but hopes his mom is happy because he made it out .
Not entirely sure but from experience hopefully this is a good interpretation for the “ collect call from the county could always make me smile-” line basically meaning. Before/after the fame, all the money, the dudes in jail would make him feel like he’s seen or better yet understood and may be able to talk to him in a more heartfelt sense of home. These are the guy that may have known with him sense before he was Rod wave. I believe he can always have a honest peaceful talk with them.
Love your videos haven't served in the military did 7 years on Wildland fire instead but you make allot of since when you break down a video love it all keep it up
Can you react to more rod wave please. We all would really appreciate it. I love all your comments you had to this song and I think you would enjoy his other songs
Well can be looked at as when he gets a call from the county, he happy to know that a person he is cool with is calling him but the on the other hand your now in jail and have to go to trial
I can see how you can interpret that he’s happy to be out the streets by going to jail but it’s not the case. In hip hop now, storytelling isn’t the same as before. They jump from subject to subject so it’s not necessarily connected
Yah I think it’s more of like he happy he get to talk to his friend cuz it’s either he was gonna get put down in the streets or go to jail and he still alive so I’m guessing that’s why he wrote that line.
