Hey thanks a lot for the interesting comparison! I noticed that the microphones in your thumbnail are pointing in very different directions. On the large ones the membrane is pointing to the side (so in your case straight down) and on the small ones they in your case point to the front of the piano and not straight down. It would be interesting to hear the difference with the same direction recorded :)
if i can add my comment, it would have been better to get smaller passages, played again with the other mic to get the comparaison on the same passages, mic 2 is nearly only in strong moment + at the end but very shortly on a slow passage. And to put the name of the mic all the time in the frame, that would help. nice playing and piece, thank you for the video.
well if my review counts for anything I must say mic 1 is absolutely phenomal!!!, I have trained ears for flat at and accuarte sound for studio work and sound system design, and was listening on on some pro IEMS and the sound quality is as about as good as it gets and sounds like a came out of a multi milion dollar studio, would be very interested on the rest of your system chain interface, and post processing and how you have the mics placed. . , have you ever used the at 2035?
Hi I am just getting into audio and stuff and I had ordered the m5 matched pair and just got them yesterday. My dad had also ordered the Rodecaster Pro with a few podcast mics because he wants to do a podcast with my mom. We planned on using the Rodecaster Pro even for my recordings with the m5 and I have no idea what I’m doing and it sounds really bad. I have it connected to a laptop and it is running through audacity but I’m not sure why it sounds so bad. I have all effects turned off and also on the Rodecaster I have processing off and I have no idea where to go from here. Basically, how do I record with the m5 matched pair? I really hope you see this.
Nice playing and nice video but the mics are not facing the same way. Mic 1 is a lot directly to the dampers not happening in the mic 2 so the results are not very acurate. Could you please do the video again using the same mic stands ? Still i am going to like the video. Thanks a lot!
A great music, but I am listening now on a good equipment (Sennheiser HD600 connected do Marantz HD-DAC 1) and I cannot find any difference between the two mics.
Very dramatic difference. The M5 is not very good. Also very beautiful playing I'm going to have to learn this now. 👏 Care to share the arrangement of this song?
Thanks. What's your verdict? I'm thinking between M5 and NT1 (not A), both affordable. M5 seems to lose the base, do you agree? NT1 / NT1A would pick up more base sounds and hence should be better for classical music???? I'm confused. Need to buy some gears for my kids performance
