The aggressive 150Hz high pass is definitely useful in very loud outdoor settings with a lot of low frequencies and is clearly audible in your video.
@editorskeys

Hey Alex yes you can defiantly hear a difference with the 150hz, so it's really handy if you do have traffic noise in the background or an annoying diesel generator pumping away in the background!

Hi I've been using this mic as part of my setup for video recording outdoor football matches for a couple of years. It is a very good, reliable mic. Except, it not only picks up sound directly in front - match noise, but also directly behind, where the camera operator and some spectators will stand so coughs, sneezes and conversations are getting picked up as well. Any suggestions on how to mask/mute the background noise.
@editorskeys

I think I would advise to get a Lavallier microphone, as this will only pick up you rather than everything else around you

I know this is a few years old now, but I am looking for a good vlogging mic, for my car reviews I use rode wireless go with a lav wired in, but when I'm in a car with someone driving and I review them I need a mic to get their voice better being that I don't have 2 wireless mics. I had the diety d4 duo and I thought it would be cool having that second capsule but I find that's not the case.

Thanks for the review. Can you use this type of mic in conjunction with a wireless if you to interview so you can get clear audio from the wireless and combine with Rode for ambient noise (and reduce it). P.S since it is 3 year old, is there an updated version?

Hi mate brilliant video. I have a quick question about it’s compatibility with gimbals. Seeing as it’s a shotgun mic, I wanted to use it on the move with my canon EOS m6 mark 2, on a Zhiyun Weebill S gimbal. I tried to attach a small light on top of the camera, and couldn’t manage to balance it. This is a bit of a deal breaker for me, and there isn’t much info out there. Any advice would be brilliant! Keep up the good content!

Great, informative video, I'm just wondering, I've been shooting stills for over 10 years now, I'm only just getting into video, however as far as audio goes, it's territory I'm not familiar with. I plan on recording stock footage with ambient sounds (similar to the market scene). Would something like the Rode VM Pro+ be idea or are there other suggestions? I'll occasionally be talking to the mic, however I'm happy to use a lavalier mic for those bits. Any advice or directions to material to read would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Hey buddy, I think a shotgun mic like this or even the rode micro would be great for your use. Lavalier is handy if it’s an interview or really noisy area. The micro is what I’ve been using for weddings and it’s been great. I’m debating if I need to upgrade! Lol

Hey there, should I set my mic +20 for better audio quality?
@editorskeys
@editorskeys 3 года назад
Hey Hayatt, great question. The +20 will help if you are quite far away, however it can make the audio sound a little noisy. I would recommend having it set to 0db, and being as close to the mic as possible. If you have any traffic, aircon noise in the back ground switch the flat line switch to the slanted down side and this will reduce those types of noises

The Rode manual says the Auto Power feature will ONLY work if the camera supplies plug-in power. I tried connecting a mic to a Canon XA20 camcorder and a Canon Vixia HF R72 and the auto power feature did not work. Do Canon camcorders generally not provide plug-in power? Just some DSLR cameras? Who can provide information on this?
@editorskeys

Hey Ed I’m not too sure on this one, I’ve found it worked on our canon m50 and the Sony a7iii we used. Do you have the video mic pro plus
@edpelicula9344
@edpelicula9344 4 года назад
@@editorskeys Yes, I have the Video mic pro plus. I was able to get plug-in power for the Auto Power feature by using a VXLR+ adapter on my XA20. I just shot a project with the pro plus and it seems that it was not as directional as I thought, picking up sounds almost from all directions. I was using the +20 gain and the manual gain just below the halfway mark. The interviews were generally peaking about -10. Was wondering if it might be better to lower the gain to peak about -15, then raise the volume in Premiere Pro later. I was also using the safety feature, although in Premiere Pro it looked like only one audio track.
