In this video, I'm going to assemble and paint the cockpit of my new project - 1/32 Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter from Roden .
This is going to be a simple project (I hope) and I'm very excited to see how it will come together!
Building and painting a cockpit is a great way to add detail to your model and make it look more realistic. In this video, I'll show you how to assemble the cockpit and then paint it.
I hope you enjoy the video and please feel free to leave any feedback you have!

Greetings my friend, thst was a great start to the build, those turn bucklesvwere absolutely tiny, I assume you were wearing magnifying glasses? Looking forward to the next update, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 11 месяцев назад
Thanks, the turnbuckles are use are 1/48, because I think 1/32 are too big for the scale and I do not use any glasses, yet... however, I feel that in 2-3 years I will need some :-(

I see the kit still needs some cleaning up, but you absolutely make a stunning detailed interior. Nice wood work imitation. Pleasure to watch✨ 👍✨

Yes, it needs to cleaned like any Roden kit, thanks!!!

Great, I have the second kit, that I got on the May model show, so I will buy Aviattic for it later, for sure

By the look of the preview, Roden has provided a few more details than its other kits???? Although, the quality hasn't improved at all but you have worked your magic and made it look so much better. Great start, FCM!
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 11 месяцев назад
Thanks, agree, Roden has the same quality, as usual (a spoiler - I was surprised with their decals. You will see why in the next episode), and they included bombs, 2 types of top wings (with and without windows), I think they are planning to have a single seat bomber option. We will see
@robbo1068
@robbo1068 11 месяцев назад
@@FlyingCircusModels Will be interesting to see whether a single seater is in a future release. It's a shame that Roden's quality isn't better as they seem to release more 1/32 WW1 planes than other manufacturers.
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 11 месяцев назад
@@robbo1068 agree, I think the problem is with the type of process they use to make models - it's low presure injection molding not high presure. The later one is better, but more expensive and more complicated, have no idea why they still use that old process (money, skills, etc.)

Off to a great start FC, looking forward to further videos on this build. Do you think the No. 11 scalpel blades are sharper than the X-Acto blades.? I think they are sharper.
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 11 месяцев назад
Thanks, Phil, I haven't use X-Acto blades yet, I have too many scalpel blades ))) I believe when the blade is new - they are all sharp enough for our needs

That big needle in your hands becomes a multipurpose tool, I see 😊. This Roden looks to have the quality of a short-run kit, not even having decals for the instrumentation. But you’ve skillful improved that cockpit. 😍 Also, did you use resin turnbuckles instead of metal ones because the rigging in the cockpit sides isn’t as taut as those on the wings?
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 11 месяцев назад
Roden usually doesn't have any instrument decals, so you need to buy aftermarket or save from your other projects. Yes I use resin turnbuckles, because I used Ezline wire and it's not so strong like nylon
@ronaldbyrne3320
@ronaldbyrne3320 11 месяцев назад
@@FlyingCircusModels I didn’t know that. Instrument decals are standard in kits, I thought. I better look for some aftermarket sets then for any Roden kits I want. Thanks. ✌🏻😊
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 11 месяцев назад
@@ronaldbyrne3320 right, I use Airoscale set for WW1 planes for many years now, there are a lot of different intruments in one sheet - highly recomend it

Yes, it's their new kit and Roden has other options, like night fighter and bomber versions

Help ! I am getting more and more confused with the fit of part nos 2c/3c which sits just behind the pilot. I am unsure which way round this goes the instructions show the glued in part 3c as being towards the back of the aircraft but when dry fitted looks like the back of it doesn't sit up straight if you get my meaning. Can you please help
@FlyingCircusModels

HI Will, the instruction is correct - you need to put gas tank detail #2c looking forward, check it on my video 18:10
