I had the pleasure and great opportunity to study under Rodrigo Riera during the early 1970's in NYC. He was a remarkable guitarist and passionate musician.
El amigo Evangelos puede pasar facilmente por un venezolano al interpretar está música. Hay que tener mucho talento para interpretar obras de Riera y Lauro y transmitir la "venezolanidad" de estas obras
+Iván Avendaño respeto su opinión, y ese guitarrista es excelente, pero le he escuchado a alumnos de tercer año de guitarra académica interpretaciones con un estilo verdaderamente criollo. en ciertos compases me parece que Evangelos debería acentuar las ultimas notas pero se lo deja mucho al romántico y para mi pierde su esencia. sin embargo esa es la magia de la música, su interpretación es única y cada quien tiene su punto de vista, pero no deja de ser hermoso.
Así es... no soy muy conocedor, pero me parece que Evangelos Assimakopoulus transmite mejor los sentimientos Venezolanos que John Williams aun cuando este último hace interpretaciones muy limpias, suena muy neutral.
I’ve seen the majority of Evangelos’s repertoire and of all of the classical players out there he is the most accurate. I would easily say he was the most gifted classical guitarist on Earth. Check out his version of La Catedral, Carora or Angostura and you might just agree. Not to forget his wife either, she is just as talented
He's very well known in the guitar world, and of course he's an idol in Greece where he's developed many guitarists (a friend of mine is one). He has numerous recordings and he's performed countless times all over the world. He mostly performs as a duet with his wife Liza.
I found this piece on an old vinyl. Had never heard it before and I was owed by it. I looked and looked until I found the sheet music. There were too many chords to memorize, I had to write them down in my own hieroglyphics. The right hand fingering is very complex for my limited skill but I manage to Mickey Mouse it. It sounded real good. The player on the record plays it a bit faster than this. This is very clean and well executed. My respects.
Beautiful performance. Could someone tell me if the top melody line is in six eight time and the bottom line is in three four time, it has that six eight feel.
Felicito al ejecutor, sin embargo debe revisar la partitura original. Debo decir, que hasta ahora como guitarrista europeo, es hasta ahora quien ha conservado en su ejecucion los sonidos originales. Seria excelente, obtener el disco de Rodrigo Riera para revisar altertaciones.

Autor de un importante cúmulo de obras para la guitarra clásica, inspiradas y dedicadas al patrimonio musical de su región natal en el Estado Lara en Venezuela. Su escritura nacionalista lo asocian con el trabajo de Antonio Lauro pero la técnica es más accesible a guitarristas principiantes e intermedios.
